Truly awful news. What a legend he was. RIP Warney.

Er… well they did say it was going to be a bowler’s wicket.

Golly, this is some lower order batting by England.

Wow, 10 and 11 getting us to what looks like something resembling a respectable score.

Wow, 10 and 11 getting us to what looks like something resembling a respectable score. Either that or proving its a 350+ wicket. This is definitely up there as one of the worst English test teams in such a long time. If the Windies hadn't been so crap in the field we'd barely have made it past 100.

Ha, yes, that too. We are an absolute shambles at Test level. The ECB should be ashamed. I know it's a sport-wide problem, but selling out and chasing the cash from white ball cricket, with no plan on how to support Test cricket, is embarrassing.

Absolutely agreed. Such a shambles of an organisation.

It's so frustrating, as despite the fact that T20 is fun, nothing beats the tension of a test match. Really don't understand people who don't like it. You get the odd duff one on a flat wicket but if you get a wicket that offers something for everyone, it's a fantastic watch. That's another bug bear actually, the preparation of wickets. Sort it out FFS!

Surely this is Root's last game as captain. He's so utterly devoid of leadership or intuition on the field. Just let him purely focus on being one of England's greatest ever batters.

Literally anyone else with a semblance of leadership. Maybe go the way of South Africa when they instilled Smith at 22 and let him mould things.

I'd totally missed that Root has stood down as Captain. Probably the right decision given his recent run. Hopefully he'll now get his batting game back up to where it once was. Slim pickings for the replacement though. Seems a lot to place on Stokes. Rob Key has taken over at the top too.

He doesn't make good decisions in the field and rarely seems to influence a game via plans or intuition. To have a red ball reset needs a new captain in place, whoever that ends up being.
