Fire as an adjective.
"This [x] is fire"
AHEM. Fire is a noun.

It's also a verb.

Not trying to start shit but "cringe" used as a descriptive noun, ie "X is total cringe". I get that it's essentially a degeneration/shortening of "cringe-inducing" or "cringe-worthy", but "cringe" as a descriptive noun is well... exactly the same kind "cringe" as stuff like "disruptive" just originating with a different kind so-and-so, an internet-person rather than a business-idiot. "Based" isn't much better. I'm not actually sure what people mean by "based". I hear it often enough, but there's never been enough context to parse the meaning. Basically it means "Isn't afraid to have their own opinions and is level-headed" or "sensible and reasonable", it originates with a rapper, got stolen by far-right 4Chan idiots/nazis who mostly used it kind of ironically or about people who were insane shitbirds, but it got used so much that it ended up being used more by just "very online" people (who are often woke-ish) than nazis, and sort of accidentally got reclaimed from them - but is still mostly used by people who could do with getting punched (regardless of their politics). I've come across people who use it who aren't awful but they're pretty rare.

Adding "at all" to the end of a sentence when it makes no sense. "Have you got a Co-op card at all?"

"Based" (and the elsewhere mentioned "ratio") are throwaway comments most often used by people who have nothing to contribute but absolutely must comment anyway. It's ironic that the usage of "based" wrt to the aforementioned rapper started out to mock the idolatry of the rather dull and plodding Lil B (aka "the Based God"). knowyourmeme.com/memes/based-god

The weekend EG journo Vikki putting 'ICYMI' in nearly every article she writes.
Really winds me up for some reason...more so that I had to Google it to work out what it meant. Serves me right for reading EG articles.

Using '[X] slaps' as a positive. Did you ask if it likes being slapped? Consent is key.

I still get really mad when people say "December three" instead of "December third". Not sure if this is an Australian thing but it winds me the fuck up.
Also, for some reason in meetings people say "talk to", instead of "talk about". "Yes, Helen, I can talk to that." Talk about that, you cock!

"speak to" is something people are starting to say a lot in our place.
Also "the ask is" rather than "I'd like you to know if you can do this"
Oh and "skin in the game" inserted of "have an interest in"

'I haven't got any mustard on that anus' is my go-to.
'December three' is commonplace in my office. It's horrible.
'Need to bottom out this line of thinking/this option' is another awful one that's becoming more widespread.

Skin in the game means you have something to lose (or win) rather than have an interest in

When a footballer who’s part of the current “narrative” scores and the commentator says “who else?” when the answer is “possibly any of the other players”.
Bonus death if that goal isn’t even the first goal for the team.

Ugh. On that note, "he/she understood the assignment" is an unbearable phrase to read.

“Can I get…”
NO! The shop assistant/waiter will get it, your roll in the transaction is to ask for it by saying “Can I have…”
