Gaming sites are, in my opinion, awful these days. Gone are the days where they had a true community feel, like GamesRadar or GameTrailers did.
So I open it to you, my fellow Feeks, which gaming sites do you actually still use and recommend?

Now EG is dead to me I've been idly browsing kotaku, seems ok. But I still subscribe to paper copies of Edge, because I'm old, stubborn and stuck in my ways.

Just been on to EG and I have opened two articles to read, however these are the first two in over a week, so I was just about to create a thread to ask the same thing as the OP of this one.
Where do you guys frequent for your regular gaming news? I am not too worried about the community but rather the content quality.
A quick Google suggests Destructoid or Niche Gamer are top sites. Are they any good? Are they very Americentric?

I've been feeling like all the coverage of mainstream games (which by now includes the popular indie games) has gotten pretty interchangeable, and the sites that highlight games that fly under the radar are rare. That's why I appreciate Alpha Beta Gamer, which mainly covers a variety of indie games in their early development stages, with the occasional open beta for a big-budget title thrown in there too. They only write a few words about each game and criticism is usually light if it's present at all, but there's plenty of good stuff there. I've installed a fair few demos and prototypes after learning about them from ABG, so I reckon it's worth following.

Things change I guess. Magazines made way for websites supported by advertising, then the advertising got increasingly obnoxious because there supposedly wasn't enough money in it, then came Adblock. Now they're paywalling and in some cases, supported by voluntary donations.
In the beginning it was just fanzines and enthusiast press and I think it will end up right back there. Why do you need some corporate website to tell you what to like and what to hate? Find out for yourself, or if feel particularly strongly about something either way, post it in a relevant thread someplace like here.
People can be incredibly wrong, especially when gathered in groups and organisations. One of the most depressing things I ever read on the Eurogamer forum was somebody espousing their philosophy of never playing games below a certain Metacritic score.
Play a game just because you like the box art. It's liberating.

Whatever Google suggests when i open a new tab on Chrome mobile. Don't actively hunt down news for much these day like I used to do unless it's a game I'm already playing.

I've been using VGC a lot for multiplatform. UK based and have a keen eye for a scoop.

Pretty much podcasts and YouTube only now for games stuff. Stopped going to EG more as the articles and reviews became pretentious shite.

Been finding Skill Up's weekly gaming news wrap ups on YouTube are enough to keep me up to speed.

Since EG is dead to me too, I mostly read kotaku as well. Sometimes I will watch an IGN review. I keep toying with the idea of buy proper magazines, but I balk at the idea of them costing around £6-7 when I go to get one. They don't even have cover disks!

I don't understand skillup doing his weekly news when the reason he gave for splitting up Laymen was not wanting to do news.
But yeah most of my general gaming news comes from him and ACG's podcast.

Pretty much just browse PS Store by newest these days, see if anything crops up every few weeks. Then I'll hunt for some YT footage of actual gameplay. If I can't tell from that whether I'll like it or not, what's some "journo" going to do to change my mind, gushing about how it reminds him of a certain rueful autumn in 1987 ?

I get most of my gaming news from you lot or youtube (Sterling, Joe, Oxbox, Oxtra, PS Access, EG, RPS, Escapist etc). I really don’t have time to pay much attention these days though so most of them are channels I followed years ago and I’ve never been curious enough to update the list.

As others have said, acg is pretty good. Other than that not really, I just mooch about looking for particular games and watch the videos where their voice doesn't make me want to stab pencils in my ears.

They don't even have cover disks! i'm not up to date with the options these days, but there's probably a way to subscribe to a digital edition of a print mag (assuming any print mags are still alive). I used Zinio years ago and it was ok-ish, though I don't remember the pricing. I'm sure there are other options these days, maybe even amazon. it was kinda nice to get a nice package of news that you could browse through at your own pace, rather than having to check every day. the downside is that it's usually news that was on the websites about 4 weeks earlier. It's also better if you have a decent tablet.

It's not really the same as your Kotakus and Destructoids, but I've consistently found Gamasutra (now called Game Developer for some reason) worth reading.

I use Readly for digital magazines. It's 7.99 a month for access to its whole catalogue, which covers the majority of mags I used to buy (which still exist - rip GamesTM)
