What's the point in the basement? They missed a trick not having your collection in a display case or something.
Just seems a pointless way of adding collectables.

This is so reminiscent of Micro Machines in the Megadrive (or was it PS? I forget). With added upgrade and progression etc. So much fun. Haven't unlocked or found anything special yet, still using one I got with the sports pack. I've only scratched the surface so far though

Micros Machines 2 turbo tournament on the mega drive was fucking mint back in the day. I'm going to have to give it a blast tomorrow now that you've mentioned it. Multiplayer races on the one with a floating sponge were absolute mayhem!
Think there was PS version too but never got around to it.

@rummonkey - I haven't done it yet, but any tracks you create and share will load up with your custom basement too apparently.

Yeah, was one of the multiplayer go to games at uni/just after. Much hilarity ensued.

I'm enjoying this so far, although one mistake on the later tracks and it's pretty much all over.
It's a shame you don't seem to be able to upgrade the legendary cars? They almost seem redundant once you fully upgrade some of the others.
I upgraded the Rocketfire and nothing seems to come close stat wise, so unless I'm missing something obvious or there are hidden stats I can't see me swapping out to anything else from now on. It almost seems like a missed opportunity not to have had classes of some sort to force you to swap cars regularly.

I think I'm going to have to start using a slower car, im basically just ricocheting around the tracks at the moment!

Ha, that's my approach too. No finesse, pedal to the metal etc.

Fucking hell
The livery editor just froze on me and I lost about 90 minutes of work because I hadn't saved yet.
Save early and often kids.

Heh, nice. The cracks are starting to show for me in this now. So much reuse of tracks early on it's in danger of becoming boring. The racing is still decent, but I'm playing Forza Horizon 4 on the side to relax and the disparity between the level of energy is marked. Chalk and cheese a bit I know, but the rather barebones structure of Hot Wheels ultimately does it no favours.

Like I said earlier it's the perfect game to rinse over a couple of weeks and then move on from. I absolutely loved my time with it, but I've moved on now I think and will get my next arcade thrills from FH5. RIP hedben's design

I'm hoping some of the expansions will add some more variety. At first the barebones approach was refreshing rather than being an overwhelming iconfest but now it's feeling a little bland.

What's the multiplayer like? I can see having some fun with my son (until I get fed up of him kicking my arse) and online should be a winner.

I still fucking love it. Perfect just to stick on and do a few events. And seriously the fully upgraded RocketFire is by far the most fun car to drive.

It's been mostly great online in my experience. Some really good racing to be had although I haven't had chance to play since last weekend so everyone's probably moved up a level since.

It's worth the price, the racing is solid.

But just randomly progressing down a few paths, out of half a dozen races last night I maybe saw two or three tracks. And they were very familiar to me. Still fun, just samey.

I'm doing a couple of races at a time and the novelty of unlocking a cool car adds another layer of fun to the game.
Online is good fun too, I just hope they keep it fresh with new areas in the single player portion.

I've almost done all the events and they just get better and better. It could do with one or two more track locations but it's great value. I'd happily pay a fiver for a couple more tracks at some point. The racing is just so solid and fun and the AI is so cunty, that it keeps every race fresh.

The shop timer only ticks down when in game. That's pretty stupid.

Indulge me a stupid question: but there's no other use for the coins in this than buying Blind Boxes right? I shouldn't be saving them up for something later down the line?

Only for boxes or cars you want in the shop. The better cars are normally about 2k in there.

It gives you a choice of 4 cars to buy every few hours of in-game time too.

The blade doesn't really work as well after the 2nd boss, you need to corner and drift too much for it to be as effective. Got a rare Bone Crusher that's doesn't pretty well.

See, the blade is rubbish. The 3 boosts that the legendary rocketfire are invaluable once it's starts throwing loads of obstacles at you.

Cool, thanks, folks. I knew about the shop also (that's where I got 24 Ours from, actually) but good to know there's no other reason to horde the cash.

Shop updated and I was hoping for the Batmobile but no luck. Been saving coins especially for it too.
It does have the koenigsegg though, is it any good?

Been my go-to pretty much the entire campaign. Very fast and handles quite nice compared to other flip-happy stuff. Only real drawback is the 2 boosts, you can get caught out now and again with that.
