Persona’s are best as handheld games in my view, I rarely turn on the PS4 so I binned off Persona 5 after a mere 45 hours and haven’t played it for 2 years. With no sign of a portable version on the cards I’ve finally dug out my Vita and set up remote play which works surprisingly well. Haven’t a sodding clue what’s going on any more obviously so I’m going back in from the start, this time from the comfort of my boudoir just as the lord intended

Persona/SMT has been by far my fav game series for the last few years. I play exclusively on handhelds these days and as such Persona 5 is the one I'm still waiting to play. Sold my PS4 last year as I moved house in 2017 and still hadn't unpacked it in 2020. I'm praying Atlus finally announce P5 for Switch as part of the 25th Anniversary celebration.
I got so emotionally invested in Persona 4 Golden when I played that last year during the first lockdown, it became my favourite game ever and I'm still kinda obsessed with it.
Hoping for some big announcements from Atlus soon. P6? P3/4/5 on Switch, just take my money.

I was half hoping for a Switch version just because I was too lazy to plug the charger into the Vita but I put my big boy pants on in the end

Funnily enough I was the opposite with P4G on the Vita. Got a Vita TV back in the day just so that I could play it on the big screen (don't think I ever did, though).
Played the Steam version on my TV and that was just lovely.

Oddly, I played most of Persona 4G in downtime during a month of train travel across Russia. A few battles with dodgy charging sockets etc though as I found once when I couldn't use the touch screen while charging...
Was a very weird sleep schedule too.
As for announcements, I would like to see P1 and the first 2 P2s updated to the PSP versions minimum and released on Switch (and PS4 I suppose) (give the original OST back to 1 as an option too).
For the mainline, similar but with 1,2 and IF.
And I suppose you could give us the 4 Devil Summoners...
And Devil Survivor 3!
P6 comes way after those. I did finish 5 on PS4 but not touched Royal yet as so close to release of the original.

A month on trains sounds like pretty much the ideal place and time to play through a Persona game.
I only played P5R late last year/early this year and hope none of my new neighbours saw some of the late game battles where Mara seemed to pop up all too frequently. Bay windows must've seemed like a goldfish bowl view of my weird fixations...
It was bloody great though and felt fresh despite playing P5 at launch.

I'd say yeah. Achievable plat on one playthrough if that kind of thing bothers you, the new stuff is all pretty great and there are some nice QoL changes too (Mona is less of a cunt)

If a Switch port doesn't end up happening I can see myself looking for a cheap second hand PS4 just so I can finally play P5. Will probably end up using remote play on the Vita. Please Atlus all I want for Christmas is a Switch port

Fighting game spinoff Persona 4 Arena Ultimax coming to Switch, PS4, and PC in 2022. Not the announcement I was hoping for, personally, but I'll probably pick this up as not played a fighter in years.
C'mon Atlus, give us remasters/remakes of the older Persona games on modern systems

Meh...
Strikers showed me that despite loving the characters they're not enough to carry a game for me. Find it hard to get excited about playing a fighting game SP or online tbh.
You'd think the PC port of P4G would have shown that there's money to be made with those at least.

P3 Portable is probably the easiest to play these days, if you have a PSP or a Vita kicking around (or on a PSP emulator)

I really need to try P3... Just a shame Sony are so useless at BC. You really should. It's far superior to P4 in my book. The stakes feel so much higher and the cast is the best of any game I've played
The whodunnit story of P4 didn't do anything for me, especially after the last game

Ah, good shout on the Vita angle. I tried loading up an emulated PS2 version a while back and it seemed a bit too janky compared to how perfect GC/Dolphin is.
Time to charge that dead battery again...

I played Persona 3 FES on a PS2 emulator years ago and I don't remember any problems. The cutscnees are ace and you get an epilogue that explains the ending and finishes the story nicely. Plus you get 3D environments. The epilogue isn't available on the Personal 3 Portable version. You do get addition Social Links (I think), a few more activities at night and optional female player character. The environments are just 2D images you move a pointer around on to talk to people, etc though
On the whole, I'd go with FES on the PS2 for a more complete experience

It was more mysterious and spending the entire game gradually climbing the tower to get to the top was really compelling. In either case, the dungeons sections were monotonous, so overall I preferred the full monotony of Tartarus with its singular end goal |

Yeah, they were definitely cool at first and it was interesting to see how they were themed. Nanako's one had a lump in my throat the entire time. It's more the grinding aspect to it; the layouts were a bit annoying whereas Tartatus was more uniformly, er, random

Got to first boss, got frustrated, added to pile of shame. I plan to go back to it at some point though. And I like some Musou games, this feels like neither mainline nor Musou. |

There's a rumour over on EG that a remaster of P3P is incoming,so think I'll hold off for a little bit.
P3 FES is fairly cheap on the PS3 store though, so I might dig that out and take a look.

I would rather it was FES with added Portable content so we get the best of both worlds but that would require some effort and new assets etc...
