Don't forget up to lvl20 you can respec as much as you like on the fly for free.
Use it to try out all the weapons and attributes so you settle down in the 20s(just like real life).

All over the place, we are waiting for the transfers to come together i think.
Personally i'm on Hydras which is right on the border of capacity. Generally few queues but at peak times it can (rarely) reach 300.

Yeah, I guess my main is now on Nowhere (lol). I started out on Hades day 1 and 2, got to around level 14, but that server still seems to consistently have over 1-2k in the queue, rising to 3k+ at peak hours.
I'm taking it super slow, though. Still only 18.

Highlight from the 1.0.1 patch notes:
Added additional AFK prevention to ensure players cannot fool the existing system with simulated mouse movement.
Shortened the AFK warning message from 20mins to 15mins.
Shortened the AFK disconnect from 25mins to 20mins.
Haven't been able to log in since the weekend. Hopefully this will help!

It's kind of crazy that even yesterday peak queue in the EU was 80k.

Friends roped me into playing this, and it's... kinda dull? The combat doesn't feel great, and it feels like there's just a lot of busywork.
I've never really played an MMO before, because I feared getting addicted. But I'm not feeling any particular draw to keep playing this, aside from just hanging with friends during our endless lockdown. Maybe that's enough!

Really, really loving the crafting and how so far I've been able to play entirely solo, buttttt... Fuck me, trying to get iron ore is a massive pain in the ass - and my server is only ever mildly difficult to get into during peak hours. Even if I get up super early there's just.. No fucking iron ore anywhere, drives me insane. Really enjoying most other aspects of the game however, except the lack of mounts.

To each their own and all that, but I couldn't imagine playing this kind of game solo. I don't mind a bit of grind if there's some kind of social aspect to it, but if I really wanted to go solo I'd just... play a single-player game. The crafting, hunting and combat are miles better in solo-dedicated games like RDR2. Whereas here you're just watching numbers go up.

Hahahaha it's a fair point to make, but I also really enjoy solo grinding (I played a super grind Korean MMO for years hahah) I did enjoy RDR2/RDO, but it wasn't scratching *that* itch. I have a newborn so my playtime is really short and sporadic so I enjoy that I'm able to play it solo currently, but when I get more free time I'm looking forward to the MMO side of things.

But I'm not feeling any particular draw to keep playing this, aside from just hanging with friends during our endless lockdown. Maybe that's enough! Having friends to play with can make almost any MMO, no matter how dull, at least ok, in my experience. Especially if there's some leadership or direction on what to do from some of them. On the flip side unless an MMO is pretty compelling that means that as soon as RL takes a couple of people out (even temporarily) it's likely others will stop. Kind of intrigued to see how long New World lasts with the current high population. Historically this kind of MMO, which is PvP-centric but not as wild as UO or EVE has done well for a couple of months then seen massive drop-off, but perhaps the 2021 audience is different?

I've not bothered with new world probably wait and see what kind of monetization and content they introduce in the first patch.
It seems to be a game that if you enjoyed minecraft or the Forrest type gathering games it will scratch that itch, almost every stream I've seen is chopping wood and mining ore. Not the most entertaining game to stream other than some pvp stuff.

The queues caused me to basically drop it for a bit, dont think i have logged in for a week. Which is quite something for a new MMO i normally go all in for the first month.
Away next week, if when i get back on 23rd there are queues i will probably lose all interest. No issue with rocky launchs but their is a line, the line being if i have to wait an hour to play then i will do something else.

Now there's the complaining at the other end with the folk who rushed to 60 to find there is no end game content...

Player population seems to have fallen off a cliff to a worrying degree, at least on my server.

Bit of a weird one for me. I was really enjoying it. Logged off one night, fully intent on continuing the next day ... Almost two weeks has now passed and I've just never really thought of playing it again. Not too sure why.

I was stuck for ages in the high 20s low 30s because the MSQ was locked behind a level cap, the town board missions were the same 3 things for next to no XP and I had no idea what to do next. I'd imagine it's the same problem all the way up.

Ha! I do like Josh's stuff. Totally off topic, but if you like MMOs and are at all interested in abandoned online games that still exist to be played through on Steam, check out his extended series on Otherland.
Genuinely fascinating look at the game and its troubled development, half-way through which he even gets contacted by one of the original devs to discuss.

Anyone still playing this? Haven't had the time to play in a while and I'm seeing a lot of complaints online about it, just wondering if anyone still giving it a go can comment on what it's like later on in the game? I'm around L25 so haven't seen much of it.

I'm playing it, but I don't think I'd bother if it weren't for my friends playing it too. It's not terrible or anything, just a bit bland.

I have very limited time at the moment so any game really needs to grab me and well this isn't.
As above. It's fine, nothing wrong with it atleast. But if I only have 1 hour rather just hit up game pass and grab something that looks intreasting or one of the countless free to play quick games. If I had more time then I wouldn't have to choose so much.
Wonder if it would feel different if it was released 10 years ago? Sure their was more mmo competition but outside of mmos online games have moved on.

Yeah, I am glad I've not spent £40 on this. Looks all kinds of broken. Needs some serious rework to fix a whole host of issues.
A shame as the world does look nice to roam about in.

Needs some serious rework to fix a whole host of issues. It is pretty amazing that Amazon, with enough cash to hire any devs in the world, managed to hire ones who replicated basic-ass network/client authority issues which were literally solved over 20 years ago. I mean, like, I literally, me, an individual random idiot, could have told them this would be something to avoid. And yet dozens of programmers, and probably at least a dozen management types went "Yup, uh-huh, sounds good!". I mean what the heck?

I have no desire to ever login and play this game any more, despite initially enjoying it. I'm not even too sure why, but it is what it is. Seems 70% of the original players feel the same if the concurrent numbers are anything to go by.
Has anyone tried the other Amazon game that's in beta? Lost Ark I think it's called?
