Hmmm, not sure what to make of this. Nagging sense that there would be a hidden caveat that stops too many players trying to transfer over to the then established high pop servers. I ended up not playing last night due to the queue on Hades, but I'm sitting at 245 in queue this morning:

Never fan of the approach flood the place with servers then let people transfer to other later. You are almost encouraging follow up issues of broken guilds and faction balance.
Much better to do server merges, or bite the bullet and just wait the rush out.

Queue situation on EU servers is pretty insane right now. Every EU server at max capacity. Nearly 300k people sitting in queues across the various different servers ... only c.180k actually in-game.

They opened up a load more servers, managed to level a second character on a more empty one (hope it stays that way tomorrow)

Got to think that queues are exactly as long as Amazon want them to be. Surely they're balancing the risk of people dumping the game in frustration with the stream of free press about how popular their new game is?
If the proprieter of one of the largest cloud infrastructures in the world is having intolerable server queues for days, at what point to people switch from thinking "this game must be really popular" to "AWS must be really shit"?

Yeah I seen the new servers pop up last night, but as I was then 8th in line to get into Hades after a 7 hour wait, I stuck it out and managed to get an hour or two in.
I did, however, also create a new toon before bed on one of the new servers (called Nowhere), so will see what the situation is later this morning.
Weekend might be interesting, numbers wise.

They have opened ALOT of servers, a good chunk of them are low pop with no queues. Really tempted to start a new toon on one of the low pop servers. Because the highs still have queues even in the middle of the day.

Yeah, I'm a little frustrated tbh. I levelled a char to about 16 on the first day on a server that now seems to consistently have 3-4k people queuing to get in. When they released the new batch of servers, I selected one that was 'Low' pop and levelled a new character there over yesterday and a little bit this morning, up to 13. Just went to log in there, and even that new server now has a 1k queue, which at this rate is going to be c.2 hours to get in.
With only two available character slots per region, I can now either wait in the queue (9 hr + for my first server; c. 2 hr on my new server), come back to try again tomorrow, or delete one of my characters to take a punt on another 'Low' pop server, but with no guarantee that I wont hit the exact same issue later on over the weekend. Hmmm.
I may just play something else. The early stages are fine, but doing 1-15 for the third time in a few days isn't particularly appealing atm.

Guess i have been a bit lucky there, my primary server has around 2k-3k queue but what did it for me tonight was i wanted to logon at 11pm for quick go and still had 500 queue. So made a new toon on a low pop (Hydras) and got in instanly from what i can tell in the chat this server never has a queue and the world map has not got a single zone under control.
Took the high pops a day for the zones to start getting captured, this new server hasnt got a single one despite launching more than a day ago. So again at the mixed thoughts.

It would probably have made sense to limit how many players could actually sign up to a server, all the early ones are oversubscribed, so I'd bite the bullet and create a new character (I'm on my third now, had to delete the one that never even made it into Hades).

Havent heard any problems with AMD gpus the only thing is latest driver massivly improves performance. Is this the first time a game as totally broken Nvidea while leaving AMD cards unscathed?

Will be interesting to see how they handle these promised server transfers. What faction did you guys end up going? I went Marauders purely for pirate-y shenanigans, but I literally have no other friends playing it lol though I think I've got you on my Steam list Sharz.

Missed a war this afternoon because of queues, joined 30mins before the war was set to start but was hit with 1 hour queue. Think will just give up on that character and only play on the empty low pop server, which at the same time only had 300 online. But atleast can play.

Yeah, I'm trying not to let it bum me out tbh. I'm pretty far into a single-player survival horror game right now, but finished up a section and thought I'd get some New World in for the remainder of the night: 500-800 in the queue for my lower pop realm atm, still 1-2k in for the original character.
It does kind of suck, as I'd like to play. But I've not got the urge to start again for a third time, so I guess I'll just need to hold off until next week or whenever things begin to calm down. Seems like a shame as it feels like getting too far behind the levelling curve (not something that usually bothers me) in this game means that you'll likely miss out on a lot of the early-days PvP fun.

If we could afk flag the 100s of people you see auto running into walls it could be fixed overnight.
I was hoping this would be the game that wouldn't force things on you, but I'm now cock blocked on the MSQ that forces you into a public dungeon/expedition. I don't believe there is a group finder, and I'm not one for standing outside the entrance spamming random invites.

I was on the attacking side in a war earlier and it was hellishly difficult - CTF with magic users raining down AoE, riflemen sniping and plenty of fortifications is not easy. Still, got a chest with loot in at the end so kinda worth it.

Managed to get on no problem this morning with my 'second' character, who has now out levelled the original toon on Hades  I'm so conflicted on this to be honest. I'm just playing solo atm, and the whole newness and fresh feel is undeniably great: the ability to switch out to any weapon is fun (for now) and I like the philosophy behind the crafting and resource gathering systems, which means I can pretty much do whatever, and as much or as little as, I feel like. And the game can look really gorgeous at times. Even on my aging hardware I'm getting pretty solid performance at 1440p (outside of towns, ofc). Yet, you can really tell that the PvE content is still massively undercooked following their design pivot from an exclusively PvP focus. The various towns are effectively copy pasta of each other with negligible variations. And that stretches to the Town Projects and Faction Board quests as well. Enemy variety, too, seems to be somewhat lacking. I'm definitely enjoying it for now, though. |

Yup didnt realise you were on my steam list till last night, aplogies would have coordinated servers if i had.
My "main" is on Penglai and the "second" is on Hydras, however much like you i think will be swapping them around and focusing on the second toon due to queues. Once the server transfers come online i think we should get a 'font geek' group going be nice to play with people in a mmo, shockingly.
One of my toons is Covenant the other is Maruders, the one now focusing on has a beard so would like to stay Maruders for obvious reasons. Only reason didnt pick Syndicate is because they seem to be the msot played, and i never like to be the biggest most popular faction in any game.

The beta was a month ago, I liked it and the fact it has no monthly sub. I have held of to see what teething issues it has and will grab it before Xmas.

Its an MMO with all the bollocks that comes with. Personally i think the closest touch point is Guild Wars 2, such as weapons defining the skills. But it is by no means the same as GW2, for example it has the rigid quest structure of old wow.

I'm loving this. Some parts are fucking terrible like the questing but the whole package comes together and I think it's the best mmo in a long time. The rolling PVP reminds or wow early days and the whole thing has a shit load of potential.
I don't know if there is any mileage in organising something when the server transfers come up? Ive joined a company and they are nice enough bunch but maybe a bit too serious.

I think the thing that's most impressive is that everything flows really nicely - that loop of doing story missions then faction missions then back to a settlement to turn in and craft works so well. Lose hours at a time.

I hope so. I'm enjoying the solo crafting aspect of the game (when the evening queues allow me in) but having some like-minded players to group down the line would be welcomed.

Aww man, I had such a soft spot for Wildstar, such a shame how that ended up playing out.
Yeah, I snuck in an hour or two after work. I'm only level 17 and mainly dicking around doing a mixture of solo questing and crafting/resource gathering. Fishing too, naturally. The Lifestaff actually makes solo grinding so much more enjoyable, and I'm switching up my main weapon from time to time for a bit of variety (love the Great Axe, though).
Yeah, I'd likely be up for coordinating some server when the transfers are up. Obviously no idea how much longevity is in this, in the long run, but I guess that's the benefit of box price/no sub fee. See how it goes.
