Does anyone else get nostalgic for cheats? I've been thinking about this for a while because my kids wanted to play The Sims during lockdown, and every time they did I had to look up the infinite money cheats so they could just build big houses (Minecraft Creative Mode has a lot to answer for).
Back in The Day, I knew loads of cheats off by heart. Let's use this space not only to share games that actually still have proper cheats (not just unlocks or easter eggs but actual infinite lives-style cheat modes), and also reminisce about what cheats we remember from years gone by.
Off the top of my head, I remember IDDQD and IDKFA from Doom. I used to know loads for that game, and for Duke 3D, too. I also remember using "noclip" in Quake to fly through the levels, but that was less of a cheat and more of a command code.

Up until a couple of years ago i could still remember some of the old Poke addresses for Spectrum games. They're gone now though. You could "break" the game when it had loaded and type in your pokes then poke the start address usually listed in the basic loader to restart the game, heh. Had tons of fun poking values to find cheats or more usually crash the game
edit: PinkAcidBoots - i played this recently, shit, what is it?!

SPISPOPD is short for Smashing Pumpkins Into Small Piles Of Putrid Debris, after someone suggested it as Id's next game name.

I was delighted to discover that Black Mesa replicates Half Life's cocaine Cubans.
(Console commands, but that was too good an autocorrect to destroy).

Do exploits/glitches count?
Frontier: Elite 2 - loading a heavy ship with as many passenger compartments as it could carry, plus an escape pod, then taking off and crashing into the planet. The escape pod would convert to a Cobra MkI when you docked, and you could then sell all the passenger compartments that were still in the ship inventory. You ended up with a Cobra MkI that had a huge, tardis-like hull capacity, and could equip drives, shields and weapons intended for a much bigger ship. It had the maneuvering of a small combat ship but the power and range of a cruiser. God mode basically.

Yep, Frontier had loads. you could pick up a passenger at a space station then try to sell your ship - you'd get a message stating you couldn't sell it with a passenger on board but you would still get the credits. There was also an asteroid that would count towards your elite dating every time you hit it.

There was also an asteroid that would count towards your elite dating every time you hit it. Not an asteroid- Phobos. Satellite of Mars. You had to hit it with a 30MW mining laser. And it went "Nice one commander!" or something like that. I didn't know about the passenger glitch though.

Square x circle triangle x square circle triangle circle x square
Typing this three times on the level select screen of The Lost World: Jurassic Park on Ps 1 unlocked every level.
I had come across it in a cheats magazine in the newsagents, and took a long time to memorise it. I eventually realised that they gave the wrong code, and I eventually figured out the correct one through trial and error.
Which was a life saver as I found the game very tough as a young lad

I remember being given an action/instant replay cart. Pretty sure it was for snes. I used to experiment with Rival Turf and create my own which would totally screw the game.

Entering your name as pooslice on syndicate wars made a sound and then allowed you to set your name correctly but also unlocked everything and iirc made it all free.
Running around with 4 graviton guns tested the old CPU back then
