We used to have a thread for notifying if there was a new Noclip video. Well it seems they've done another one and this time it's about Arkane's Prey.

Well, yeah there's that. I'm glad that they managed to see sense in the end. There was that troubling period around the early 2010s where every FPS was trying to emulate CoD. I suppose it's now Destiny's live service mode is now the thing to ape and continually get wrong.

The Doom 4 footage is just that piece in the sewer isn't it? Everything else are early tech demos for Doom 2016, albeit using some assets from Doom 4.
Looking up the backstory of Doom 4, as I couldn't remember anything about it, sounds as if it was a total mess, but I don't think you can really gleam that from this footage. Only 1 imp is seen at a time, which makes it appear like it could have been more Doom 3 than they were saying, plus sewers are the bane of gaming, but none of this was intended to be shown to the public and we have no idea how representative it is of the whole from such a brief 20-30 second clip.
It's an interesting window into game development and stages that they go through though. Loved the animatic sequence.
NoClip make great documentaries and these unedited clips are quite interesting (their Arkane cancelled Half Life game was better). Not sure if they are worth doing too regularly though.

The noclip twitch channel has been streaming the design and testing for a while, I got the demo downloaded but not tried yet.

Jeez. I remember buying half life just because turok was delayed and I was gutted. Had a copy of edge on me in town and it had a glowing review so I went back to the shop and bought half life. Turned out a bit better than turok |
