Neck oil. It's just so well balanced. Although I am drinking it in my scabby football pub, fuck knows what it'll do my guts and head.

Neck Oil is remarkably drinkable. On a recentish work-social managed to sink a good 5 pints without even noticing.
Just ordered Wild Beers 10th Anniversary box. They're one of my faves, generally, and this anniversary box had some very interesting sounding beers, including: a special limited editions of their Ninkasi Saison; a 12% imperial stout aged in whisky barrels; a chocolate stout containing 10x more chocolate than their already chocoloatey Millionaire stout; some interesting sours; and, most weird sounding, a wild ale made with a pure yeast strain that was isolated from an abandoned wasps nest.
So lots that a beer ponce like me would be into.

They do sound interesting but £7.50 for a can of beer is a lot.

It's not something I'd session but I don't mind paying more if its decent and interesting.

This pub is great if you're not fussed how they treat their beer on match days. You might get what you ordered, you might not. But you will get it quickly, usually less than 3 mins after getting to the bar. Some good, some bad. On balance I prefer the latter.

That is some very disappointing news. Cos sure as shit, it'll change and become as bland as all the others.

I never knew it was Robert Plant's son that set it all up.

Yep. Quite fond of a pint of neck oil when the other options are just brewed under license stuff like Moretti etc.
They'll cut corners in the name of profits and this will be watered down piss before too long... Sad news!

Heineken have been involved for a while to be fair, without affecting the quality of their output. Appreciate things can change now they're in full control, but still...

Going by that article, they basically bankrolled their expansion and marketing.

My second bottle of Aminga (yes…), red wine from Argentina. It’s helping me through the fact that I cooked an apparently delicious cauliflower cheese tonight to accompany the cod and mash, but cannot have any myself due to the bastard flour. Between fish meals and visits to carveries, the GF lifestyle is rather dry, it seems

Just to clarify, before anyone gets the wrong idea: not my second bottle tonight – my second bottle ever!

I was so unutterably fucked-off with today's rugby game, I hauled one of these from the back of the refrigerator:
Barf-worthy. I don't even like lager - this was an act of desperation! - but I thought this was supposed to be the good shit?

I like a Budvar. It's a damn sight tastier than the US version but is a good beer on its own merits imo. Had one the other day after a good 10+ years and really enjoyed it.
I had a couple of Neck oil and then a glass or two of rioja. Lovely.

Not a fan of Budvar either. Pilsner Urquell's where it's at.

Having an Arbor "The Devil Made Me Brew It" stout.
After a week of not really drinking, just 3 beers, and after been on the lager for the last couple of weeks, this is actually amazing.
Have a few more stouts for my boardgames night later, and a sour.

Birra Bionde, one of Lidl's own Italian lagers. It ain't half bad you know. It's not as smooth as Menabrea but it's quite tasty. Can't be knocked for £1.39.

I’m fond of a Grant’s, nothing wrong with that at all. I’d take a blend like that over all manner of single malts most days
