So I've now had six weeks of not drinking. Any alcohol free recommendations please as I'm still trying some out. Last night I had the Corono Cero stuff which was actually really damn good.
The local Tesco looks to have quite the LA / AF selection so, as I'm travelling to my mates this weekend, I'd like to take something that's quite nice.
Whilst my brain is still all over the fucking place, I definitely am starting to feel the benefit of not drinking. Granted I know it's only been six weeks, but I've not had that long off booze in about 20 years. Ideally - and this might not come to fruition - I'd really like to knock it on the head for good.

Guinness AF is good, Freedamm lager is about the best lager surrogate I have found. I prefer it to peroni ) and becks blue. ymmv based on taste preferences.
Northern Monk, Brulo (IPA & a pale ale), Beavertown gamma ray and Cloudwater have some decent 0.5% if you're willing to stretch to that.
Brooklyn special effects is also good.

AF-wise, I'm realising that the ones I actually enjoy rather than tolerate are the low sugar options. So, I'm guessing, the ones that are brewed traditionally to turn the sugars into alcohol and then de-alcoholised.
There are some really great AF beers that are quite expensive and require you to buy by the case. But in terms of what's readily available I like Beck's Blue for a lager (cheap and dry but you need it to be very cold), Lucky Saint for a hoppier lager, and Infinite American Pale Ale for something fruity with bite.
If you wanna go to the effort of ordering a case in then Ahtletic Brewing's Run Wild IPA is excellent.

Right Dougs, I have placed an order with them. Since it is all your fault, I will update the thread with thoughts when i try them.

Excellent. I do need to find an alternative for when I want a beer but not. Nanny State and Punk AF are my usual go to but you know, Brew Dog.

Nothing, not with this hangover, sweet jesus i feel rough This is me today, although actually didn't feel too bad until this afternoon. Had an impromptu BBQ with mates over the road. I left at 12.30am, my wife rolled in at 3.30am! Very unseemly at our age! Off for the rest of the week, so would normally crack open a celebratory beer but not tonight.

I’m still feeling it from friday. Didn’t think I was that pissed when I got back to the hotel, spent an hour chucking up. Had a meeting with a client at 9 in the morning and thought I was gonna spew on him

Weird innit how it affects you differently sometimes. I had 3 or 4 pints from his Pinter (I'll have to find the name of the brew, but it was bloody lovely) and maybe a bottle of red, over about 7 hours. Felt relatively ok considering. Another day I can have just 3 or 4 beers and wake up with a banging headache that doesn't shift all day

I think it was the accumulation that did it for me, best part of 2 weeks travelling and drinking pretty much every day

I need to check out athletic, keep hearing a lot about their AF beers being good. Their golden beer and their dark beer weren't for me - I just stick to their IPA. But they're all well regarded I think so might just be me!

The athletic stuff looks a bit pricey for an AF alternative for me. Regards the Brew Dog ones, I avoid BD on principle - plus their regular stuff is manky. Becks Blue I found to have a strange chemical taste, but I'm not a big fan of Becks regular either so figures. I might just stick with this Corona stuff for a bit but I am quite intruiged to try the Guiness AF, so I might grab some of that for the W/E and see how I get on.

Nope, me neither, but it's not half bad.

Costwolds Small Batch dry gin.
Might have to stop soon.
The bottle's nearly empty.

Athletic brewery delivery arrived not long ago, got one of each type in the fridge for tomorrow.
Tasting will commence in the garden in the sun tomorrow afternoon. Sun + beer always gives a +1 to the life enjoyment stat whether with alcohol or alcohol-free.
Happy platnum jubblee

Homebrewed hazy IPA made with Bru-1 hops. The pineapple descriptor given by the growers is pretty much spot on, but I'd blend it with something else if I used it again.

The best AF lager I've found so far is Brooklyn's Special Effects, they have it in Waitrose. I recently tried the Peroni 0.0, it's ok. I didn't like Freedamm.

Athletic brewery delivery arrived not long ago, got one of each type in the fridge for tomorrow. Rightio Dougs, the verdicts: Upside Dawn golden ale. Nice, refreshing, but a little bit of that AF tang lurking at the back. All Out stout. Ok, but Guinness AF is a milliooon times nicer imo. Run Wild IPA. Pick of the bunch. Light, no AF after taste. Definitely one for drinking out in the garden on a sunny day when you're behaving yourself. At about 2pound a pop, and having to buy 24 for free delivery, i'm not sure I'd order again overly often, but if spotted in a booze shop/supermarket I'd certainly give the light beers a go again.

Leffe brune.
Used to drink this regularly and totally forgot about it somehow. I've also totally forgot it's 6.5% ABV till I was a few bottles in....

Not sure about Leffe, find it a bit, I dunno, weirdly cloying. Thought the Blonde is worse.
Have a Hardy's Bin 161 Shiraz tonight. 6 quid a bottle but it tastes like something double that price range.
If I feel like going on after finishing that, might hit the Mackmara "Mack", though it's a tad sweet for a whisky.
to update - I'm onto the Mack.Â
After a bottle of wine the strong fruit notes aren't quite so bad.

Vortex cheers mate. Will keep an eye out for the light options. Mate brought over his case of craft beers from Flavourly last night. Virtually all IPAs, some better than others. The couple of bitters in there were not great though, and I like bitter. Tasted like crap from the 80s. Good deal though, 24 for £29 including snacks and 2 glasses.
