If I were Pep, I'd root for a 3rd City goal; Real is not to be taken lightly.

Fucks sake we are depending on a team with United rejects with trampoline shins and a team with Fred, scott, AWB and Maguire to stop these arseholes from winning the treble

Alvarez doing in three minutes what Haaland couldn't do in 90 /s Edit: with an assist from De Bruyne's replacement, to boot

But hey, at least Arsenal bottled it eh?
I didn't watch the 2nd half but the sheer lack of response from most of the crowd for the 4th goal speaks volumes. Sheer entitlement imo.

In fairness it's hard for 43 people to come across as loud on a television broadcast.

I’m optimistically seeing the treble as one step closer to Pep fucking off to another league.

The way they're run don't think it will change much. They've got their Pep model now and will pick a similar manager to carry on where he left off.
Like Arteta who will probably take Saka along with him.

And to think some pundits said this Man City squad was unbalanced and not their best. The fact they just casually destroyed Madrid and Bayern does rather put things in perspective.
Hopefully Pep gets bored soon as you say and maybe if they actually do it some of the drive from the players will fade. They are far too good, as they should be with that squad. It needs to be broken up some how to make things interesting again.
When they spank Inter 4-0 in the final I think there'll be quite a few disgruntled voices from Europe too.

How are Inter at the back these days? Any chance of a Mourinho vs Barca situation?

Only chance they have really. So best we can hope for us they manage one shot all game in the 90th minute to win 1-0.
If they try anything else City will likely have it won within 15 minutes.

There’s always a chance. Chelsea did it to them in the final a couple of years ago. It’s exactly the sort of game Pep overthinks and puts Grealish at CB or whatever.
Inter’s defence is legit as well. Bastoni, de Vrij and Skriniar walk into any PL side, and Onana is an excellent keeper. They’ll be quite happy to soak up City’s attacks and pick them off, which Pep hates.

They need to come out and have good intensity early, even if they tire later on as the game could be over within half an hour. Every team that has had something riding on a game with City this season has made the same mistake of trying to work their way into the game slowly and being blitzed before they know what's happening.
They obviously can't do that by committing shitloads of people forward or going toe to toe with them but having the same commitment to win the 2nd ball and putting some big challenges in early is probably the best way to try and unsettle them. It will probably be futile anyway, but it would be good to see a team try and actually stay in a game until half time with them instead of giving them the freedom of the pitch and then acting shell shocked that they are already 3-0 down.

Counter-point. Spurs repeatedly get results against City by sitting back and countering. We literally never take the game to them.

Even Nathan Jones was able to get a result that way.

Counter-point. Spurs repeatedly get results against City by sitting back and countering. We literally never take the game to them. That's because you have the front line to do that (as do we, despite not playing that way against them, very frustratingly). The problem is that a) teams are often suffocated and overwhelmed early on and b) May not have the players (not really watched Inter so not idea if they do or don't). I'd like to think the 3 games against City were instructive for Arteta but not convinced. He seems to have as many blind spots as both Wenger and Pep.

I think ultimately every team needs to do it on the counter, but there's also got to be no fear and a certain level of intensity. Arsenal and Madrid visibly shit themselves and basically took it, Spurs always seem to have a confidence with it against City.
Klopp has them sussed as well. If they had equal resources I'd back him to beat Pep over say 10 head to head matches.

Pep’s face if Inter beat them by pinging fifty yard passes onto Dzeko’s head will be a sight to see.
They seem more confident at the back these days but (same as Liverpool) if you’ve got the players to get behind the full backs they can leave themselves very exposed. Problem is you probably need the bodies to keep their frontline out.
Feels quite symbolic that they’ll have beaten Bayern, Madrid and Inter if they win it. All proper old guard big European clubs finally giving in to the nouveau riche

A fairly workmanlike (still decent, just not spectacularly so like Napoli have been) Inter Milan turning over this treble-chasing Man City side would be pretty funny.
I don't hate Man City like most do in here, so I don't mind if they win as long as it's not a dull final.
