In todays random things I found on the internet - an old policy paper from 2015 on 7 day NHS services. The very first bullet point on the page:
Patients are 16% more likely to die if they are admitted on a Sunday compared with a Wednesday.
I doubt it's changed much, so I guess don't get sick at weekends.

I suppose if you get admitted on a Sunday then the chances are there is something more seriously wrong with you too.

We’ve got a real sitcom doppelgänger situation at work today. A guy is sat opposite me who has the same look but somehow even more Al Roberts-esque. Its quite disconcerting.

As far as google will tell me, God consultants are unique amongst hospital staff in that they get to opt out of all non emergency work in the evenings and at weekends.

My brother went out for 15 minutes yesterday and missed the UPS driver, UPS site currently says “I donnow, next work day probably”. New phone, it’s stupid but I was looking forward to it after a shitty week. Also my garage door opener crapped out yesterday, I woke up with a headache and bit the inside of my cheek just now.

Jesus, Liam Gallagher sounds fucking awful at the boxing. I would be very upset if I had just paid top dollar for oasis tickets if he is sounding like that 😂

His voice has been fucked for years thanks to his awful singing technique.

I watched a couple of minutes Rock and Roll Star.
1. It wasn’t good, but… 2. It was objectively in tune with the chords. 3. Where it’s going bad is the laziness/cheating in it. He contracts lines, changes melody to be easier and avoid tough notes etc.
I think he’s over-toured this year and could probably do with some coaching in terms of preservation and breathing tekkers. Unless he’s developed nodes or something since, I saw him at Knebworth last year and he was largely great. I thought he as below par at Redding this year, which was a couple of weeks ago now, and this was worse. It’s fatigue and he needs to be less male about recognising and pushing through it.
Voices are fragile things and I wouldn’t write him off for next year, but I think he needs to rest it before then. But even being tired or having a bit of a cold as a singer is a different thing than say Bonehead having the sniffles. The singer in my covers band literally rehearsed with us coming off laryngitis and it was dicey on the high notes. Once she recovered she blew me away. He just needs to rest it I think, and at his age some lessons will benefit him.
Anyway, boxing. I missed it and am very surprised with the result as I thought Joshua would be a bit resurgent after the last fight. At the end of the day these are big, big men twatting one another with precision training so it’s anyone’s game isn’t it.

I remember watching them at the Etihad in maybe 2005 and he couldn’t sing then, he’d just cut all the difficult lines short as he wasn’t capable of singing them anymore

Why are there no offshore nuclear reactors? We have the technology, radiation propagates almost no distance in water, the whole damn ocean can be used to cool your reactor (every reactor failure in history is essentially a cooling failure) and in the event of a catastrophe casualties would be minimal. Just borrow the cabling from offshore wind farms, the infrastructure from oil rigs and the nuclear tech from naval wessels and you’re golden, at least as a proof of concept.

Even in the middle of the ocean you need running pumps, which would also make that sea floor cable a single point of failure. And that’s overlooking the fact that seawater really really sucks when you want to cool down hot metal things.

Not to mention just how corrosive sea water is, frankly it's a terrible idea.

No, seriously - there has been no bickering whatsoever! In fact, we all got together and had a little barbecue to celebrate the end of summer. AA led us in a chorus of 'Kumbaya', which was incredibly touching; Wunty showed us how to make various arts and crafts; and after we'd finished telling scary stories, we slept out under the stars. Then someone* got his dick out "as a joke", and it was all downhill from there. * It was this reprobate.

We all discovered some common ground and came together (not like that) each day to pray for the return of Danno. Now that you're back we'll likely return to the ancient ways of warring savages
I'm already eyeing up the ER thread
