There's one cable that connects New Zealand with the world. It's open to mass surveillance and of course sabotage. Though luckily our insignificance in world politics makes that unlikely. |

The facebook stuff is due to all of their DNS records being deleted, which to me seems like it could be malicious. If it genuinely was someone pressing the wrong button you'd expect them to have sorted it by now.
The tweet above is total bollocks btw. DNS records disappearing are unrelated to the whois info for a site. That hasn't changed and nobody can just buy facebook.com suddenly.
Twitter no idea - still working OK for me at least so maybe just a temporary kiss of death from the extra traffic.

Apparently Facebooks Inc’s complete set of DNS record were removed from the global routing table which is what’s causing the outage. Literally no DNS service knows where Facebook is.
They don’t even have email or any kind of corporate comms to run the incident.
I mean, but for the grace of god go I and all that but that’s really funny.
