Right OK cheers. I just wondered if there was any weird thing when it's a really low amount left to pay, like a random charge because relatively low for example

Nah, you're a good bet. They know they'll get their money back.

Sometimes there is a closing charge I believe, when you finally pay it off.

Nice one guys, cheers. Couldn't fucking Google it for mortgage spam ads
I don't really wanna remortgage again though. So guess I'll have to get down the docks wanking for coins

Won't you just flip onto their variable rate? Might cost more, but no penalties for overpaying. I wouldn't consider it for a larger mortgage, but for something that small it could be worth looking at the numbers if you can afford to overpay at all.

Yeah, I've already switched to a tracker so I can overpay. It cost me 1k to change mortgage early, but it means I managed to get my mortgage to 19k just before the hikes started. Which are negligible increases on 19k, so I'll just stay tracker or variable next year when the time comes, depending on which one is the better deal at the time.
Just want rid of the damn thing now.

The AI thing is interesting. The banks have AI dev teams working on customer service programs to manage call centres. Most customer queries are straight forward, anything like a request for an overdraft extension has a decision tree. There's no authority or flexibility in the decision making. Call centres, recruitment, administrative roles, copywriters, I could see being replaced in a decade. Well paid professionals such as nvestment Analysts, Lawyers would be at risk. A big chunk of the role is creation of contracts, letters, documents, data, old cases. (Maybe that's paralegals) Anyway I want a robot lawyer.

Law's a big ol' corpus of text isn't it? Perfect for ChatGPT to train itself on

My friend is a lawyer specialising in commercial property contracts and every time I see her she tells me it’s one minute to midnight for her job thanks to AI.

i worked on case management software for commercial property law over 20 years ago (Solicitec) and tbh i'm suprised property law still employs as many humans as it does, was heavily scripted case flows back in "the day"
tho on the AI lawyer bit, that dontpay robot lawyer bit that did the news a while back appears to nothing more than an form filling to an MS Word template at best, and getting minimum wage "paralegals" to google law at worse

Armed police outside a property around the corner from me. That's encouraging.

There's been a bit of an odd guy there for years. I pass his house every day walking to work and no matter what time of day, he's outside wearing a weird witches halloween hat or other odd hat. He's got a big dog and he sets up an obstacle course for it in the garden, except it's more than that. There's lots of weird stuff hanging from his windows and there's incense along his fence. He's (I thought) completely harmless and I never really thought too much of it. The other day there were three police cars and two vans there and he'd drawn and written all this stuff over his walls and broken one of his windows. Yesterday I went home and there was the same amount of police, plus three armed officers. Judging by the kind of things he'd written, plus the fact I saw a glengarry bonnet in his window makes me think he's ex-forces and is obviously suffering a bit. Not sure what's going on with him but suddenly don't feel as safe as I did and have told the wife and son to take a different route.

That's not good, hopefully everything works out safely and the person can get the help he needs

I've got the feeling that he's not been having enough help and should have had more by now if this is where it's been leading to. There's been a gradual escalation of things. One of his windows was smashed a few months back as well.

There's never enough mental health services. Here in Ireland it's an absolute disgrace. It's offensively bad, and an insult to the public at large

There's been a fair few failings up here of late. For the record I don't actually believe this guy to be a danger to the public, but armed police don't get called for no reason, and you just don't know. Bit scary to be happening so close.

Aye. I'd keep myself well away from windows for the next while.
Armed police raided a flat a few floors below us years ago while we were just walking in with our shopping. Had the enforcer out ready to bash the door in. It was tempting to hang back and have a good gawp, but we wisely legged it.

How are people holding their controllers? With index and middle fingers on the bumpers/triggers or just switching index fingers between both as needed?

Double fingers? Ergh. Switch between the two when needed is the correct method.
Seal hands stoof's answer will be interesting.

Yeah depends on the game and circumstances. Generally speaking I'll just use one finger for both shoulder buttons but if a game needs both pressing I'll use both fingers.

I hold both sticks in a pincer fashion between my thumb and index finger, and let go entirely to hit other buttons.
