One of our HR folks just logged a ticket to get someone's accounts closed by IT - all well and good.
Her colleague (also in HR) just replied all with all the details of why the person is leaving (being sacked). Whoops.

It puts the lotion on the frame, or else it gets jammed again.

Little bit of olive oil down both ends of the door leaf Easier than fitting it properly, I suppose. Oh don't get me started on the previous twat before us who's bodged everything in this house. One of the first things we had to do when we moved in was get the light switches moved as all the doors upstairs had the hinges swapped round. So you'd walk into a room and then have to close the door to reach the light switch.

Closing the door first reaffirms your commitment.

Our previous owner had the house rewired (badly), but didn't bother putting any light switches near any of the front or back doors. I've lost count of the times I've muttered "fucking Sally!" finding random shit she's had done.
It's looking like a full rewire is needed, so at least we can get silly stuff like that sorted.

Yeah it sucks but it'll probably sort out a load of other niggles along the way.

The last house share I was in was a massive bodge.
The owner, my mate, and the previous owner, his dad, are the type of people who just can't stop fiddling. Because of that, they've done all kinds of "improvements." Moving the loft entrance from the hall into a bedroom. Bricking up a side exit to a utility room. In the time in was there, my mate knocked down a wall between the kitchen and living room. Then built another a wall dividing the living room into two. Then knocked that wall down a year later.
Don't even want to to think about the wiring he did, running lights directly off mains feeds. Plugs everywhere, but nowhere useful.

We have quite a few light switches that that are upside down, just bizarre. And the cupboard lights are turned on form nearby wall sockets.

Wait, like understairs cupboard? I was thinking like kitchen cupboards.
In the last 36 hours I have crossed twelve time zones and slept for about three hours - forgive me.

Former kitchen and the plug was needed for the cooker hood? I have one of those, took me ages to find it.

Yeah, they moved the kitchen to the back and left the pipes and old plugs as is, so the rest of the plugs in there are at worktop level rather than near the floor. The previous owner never met a job he couldn’t half arse.

Reminds me of the house down the way from me, it’s got a front door on the first floor. No stairs, no balcony, just a door that opens out to a 15ft drop

Christmas morning I'd long to walk out of the forbidden door and drop to the concrete below. But no I'll have to pretend the socks I received yet again were a nice surprise and look forward to another 14 hours of dreary consciousness. Ho ho hum.

The drier in the utility room is plugged into an extension lead that drapes over a door, probably half the light switches have been installed upside down. We also have a mystery light switch in the kitchen that seems to be unconnected.

I have a fridge under the stairs which in plugged in to an extension lead which is plugged in next door. And the lead has to go over the door frame. Sparky has been promising to put sockets in under the stairs for yonks.
