Seriously, don't use a Vista laptop. If you absolutely have to use it (and aren't just joking), then put Windows 10 or something like Ubuntu on it. If you keep an eye on HUKD or similar and get a cheap SATA SSD it'll be given a new lease of life.

Smallville really turns into a chore after season 6. Still got 4 more fucking seasons to go and I want Lana, Lex and Lionel to die a painful death. (I know that won't happen)

It’s one of the few shows I’ve given up on after watching it for a fairly long time.
They poochied Lana embarrassingly hard until every scene was someone telling her how amazing she is or hyping her up if she is off-screen. It absolutely fucking sucked.

Whilst at the same time having a kick arse Lois basically ready to take the female lead from pretty much season 4.
It's almost like they pushed the lana love so hard they wanted us to hate her for it.

If you are buying a new laptop then the cost of living crisis hasn’t hit you yet? I am thinking of firing the old Windows Vista laptop, and working out if waiting for all the updates is worth the saving. I will work it out at a rate of minimum wage vs hours to get it sorted. I've had to downgrade to an underclocked Pentium III to save on electricity.

Wasn't one of the Smallville actors a recruiter for a cult or something? I remember that being a news thing at some point.

Yeah the actress who played Chloe. The actress who played Lana, was involved but left fairly early

Cheeky DPD driver took a picture of my parcel down a random alleyway and marked it as delivered... Erm, I live in a terraced house.
I thought they were one of the better ones. That's the kind of shit Evri would pull.

DPD can be so hit or miss nowadays, they're stretching their drivers to breaking point.

During the pandemic we got so many parcels I got to know my DPD driver! Gave him a box of chocolates after a delivery of 24 boxes of firewood one year...

Since my wife harnessed the power of vinted, I am now on first name terms with the lovely Evri/Hermes lady, Ann.
'This one feels like boots!'. It does, Ann. It does.

We know our Evri driver. She's great and also gets a Christmas present.
Mine is called Judith and I think is from Romania. She works 12 hour days, poor woman.

The last mile is where all delivery companies live or die, to be fair. Ann is great and has been on our beat for like five years which means, incredibly, my Evri/Hermes experiences have been almost universally positive.

My DPD were supposed to deliver a box of meat on Friday.
It’s arrived this morning and was room temperature. I don’t want to die today so that’s straight in the bin next to the dead squirrel that’s also in the bin.

Just plugged the hole in Mrs Hermits NI contributions. Apparently I let her retire 3 years too soon for the full stamp. If she doesn't live for at least two years past retirement, I'll be mightily annoyed at the money I could have saved.

I'm holding off on paying the wife's until the last minute, for exactly that reason.

What did the squirrel do? It should never have gotten into that DPD van.

Always thought dpd and hermes were a bit shit, but sounds better than the amazon prime driver that just blocked my driveway and blaring out shitty music whilst delivering all around our street on foot.
He didn't even deliver to my house. Bastard.

Funnily enough my DPD driver is currently outside having to wait for 5 minutes before he can actually "deliver" his parcel to us. I just overheard him say to my colleague the phrase "not to be all xenophobic but..."

DPD just left my new £300 quid speaker in the green cardboard bin - meant to be signed for or left with a neighbour.
I'd like to complain but also don't want the chap to be fired either - I know delivery drivers often have ridiculous targets.

Have a word with him, warn him that you regularly receive boxes containing expensive goods so just assume anything he delivers is worth a few hundred quid on the black market should anyone steal it

The does seem to be regional differences in couriers. For me, DPD have been very good.
Hermes are terrible though. The mystery of where a supposedly delivered parcel has ended up starts to feel like one of those kids books.
Is my package in the recycling box? No! My package isn't in the recycling box.
Is my package with my next door neighbor? No! my package isn't with my next door neighbor.
Wait! Is that my package under the hedge? Yes! It is my package! Damp and covered in mud.

Since FedEx bought TNT, whenever I miss a delivery they put a FedEx tracking card through the door. they still have seperate tracking systems and the number does fuck all unless you “know the trick”
