I saw Black Country New Road where playing Falmouth when I was on holiday there a few months back. Is it just those connected few playing there or is it becoming popular?
It’s interesting, given a lot of areas seemingly are getting fewer of the touring bands these days.

I saw Black Country, New Road recently and was sorely disappointed after adoring Ants From Up There.
The new stuff sounded really limp. Gave me the impression the Isaac was the real driving force behind the group.

After seeing well over a dozen post-rock bands, they sometimes just don't do it for me live.

It’s interesting, given a lot of areas seemingly are getting fewer of the touring bands these days. The venue The Cornish Bank seems to be well connected, it gets quite a few surprise artists, I've missed a few including BC,NR because I did not expect them to have that pull. Am signed up to all their channels now so I don't miss anyone else.

Gave me the impression the Isaac was the real driving force behind the group. I loved For the First Time so much it gets repeated plays often, and I was very pleased that Ants From Up There was such a strong follow-up. Live from Bush Hall is fine, but as you say Issac was definitely the driving force there. The music is still good, but the band have lost the swagger and edge that he brought and it's noticeable.

Well I loved Wet Leg, will check out these Dinnerparty folk. My daughter went to see them recently. She's got good taste, except for Taylor Swift.
2 gigs recently, Cardiacs last week, they were very good. A tribute to the singer who died. Very mixed crowd, oldies like me, and enough kids to have a proper mosh pit, haven't seen that for years. I do prefer the more prog songs than the punky ones....
Evan Dando at the weekend...I've not really kept up with him much this century, but didn't realise he has "issues". He was steaming! You could smell the bevvy off him... He did manage to finish most of the songs he started, and it was overall an experience! It was just him and an acoustic guitar.
Best bit was Gerry Love from Teenage Fanclub getting on stage with him to do a couple of covers (one Byrds). At one point I think he was considering catching Evan as he looked like he was about to fall over....

Seeing Jon Ronson doing one of his Psychopath Test evenings this week. I saw him at a book festival when he originally published it 10-12 years ago so I’m guessing between that and Things Fell Apart I figure I’ll be familiar with a lot of the stories but I’m sure it’ll be a good one.

My boss went to see Evan Dando a few years back, he was apparently back on the smack then and nodding off during songs, so you possibly got a better gig if he actually managed to finish most of them. He's here soon, or was up recently, but i decided to skip it as he would possibly be to messed up to make it worthwhile. Sounds like i made a sensible choice.

A shame that book is associated to someone I was dating around 2015. I borrowed it off her and then she awkwardly decided to dump me and asked me to post the book back to her..

That Frank Turner guy you all keep going on about is coming to Japan! Still no idea who he is.
Wait, he's the guy you all know, right? Not the guy with the big round head? Am I mixing up my Franks?

Not my choice but booked Alanis Morrisette tickets for Cardiff next year. She virtually never tours. My wife is highly delighted as she was due to see her 30+ years ago but had to cancel as she was in a play at Uni. It's a day away I s'pose!

We have another gig in the north West again. Playing in a converted church with 2 other bands raising cash to save our only pub in tbe village which is up for sale.
All for charity mate etc.
Anyone in the north West greater Manchester region fancies it, you're more than welcome

Worst by far was Thriller Live!, the Jacko one, because of the forced participation I couldn't just sit there and try and zone out for 2 hours. I hate absolutely everything about musicals.

Worst one for me was We Will Rock You, half of my friends walked out half way through, I stuck it out and by the end wished I'd left as well.

Nothing in that song is ironic, I am aware. The song itself is a question, no? So it could just be answered with "no, it isn't".

I hope there's no posters up, so I can keep this on the low down! We're there this weekend to take the boy to the university open day for a look round and hear about his possible courses of interest. Better prepare distraction techniques to divert her attention if i spot any!

They aren't all bad. Hamilton and Book of Mormon are both quality musicals. I've happily seen both of them a few times.

Geordie Greep was fucking fantastic last night, watched in a small venue (with capacity of 280 people) on a stage that could barely fit the five-piece band that joined him. That man is insanely talented, brilliant musician and his voice is something else live.
Nearly two hours of music, lots of noodling in-between the songs from the album, and incredible performances of two crowd favourites (already!?) Holy, Holy and The Magician.
Well worth the four-hour round-trip, didn't get home until 1am. (Though the late night drive through deserted Cornish roads was worth it alone as I needed to decompress from all the real family shit going on).

Jon Ronson was really interesting and entertaining last night as you’d expect. Big difference between this tour and the original Psychopath Test book festival show I’d seen, is that this one has guests. Both were fascinating and their stories were shocking although I probably preferred the solo anecdotes.
