Intrigued by your "slightly darker Bill Bailey" summation, I looked up this Andrew O'Neill on YouTube. First clip of their stand-up opened with them getting the audience into a "knees-up Mother Brown sing-along" of Run Rabbit that concluded with them miming repeatedly shooting the rabbit.
So, yep, darker Bill Bailey sounds about right!

Terrorvision were awesome, music knockout, venue was great as always and crowd was well behaved. Which you'd hope when the average age was mid-50s 😅

My recent Pixies tickets purchase had a pretty much 20% fee addition over the actual ticket price. For e-tickets, so no postage or anything else. It's a fucking cartel and they need taken to task for rampant price-gouging.
Don't even get me started on the vagaries of 'dynamic' ticket pricing.

Its especially galling when stuff like ticketless/print at home options are adding £1-7 onto a price when that was a freebie five years ago.
Its wild that they’ve managed to make doing things yourself online more hassle and more expensive than it used to be to physically go to a box office and buy the things in person first thing in the morning. Not to sound twenty years older than I already am but digital first is bad on purpose and I don’t understand why.

Save it for the next zombie apocalypse.
Having been hit in the head by cd boxes, I can confirm that they hurt like hell, and I assume Coldplay ones would hurt the most.

Can I suggest that the pair of you engage in some Clockwork Orange style tactics to wean the kids off Coldplay.

Anyone have any recommendations for ear plugs? Need to protect my precious earsies. 😅

There was some discussion of earplugs in this thread a while back, if the search decides to be useful for once. I forget what people recommended, but I just grabbed a cheap pair off amazon. Something generically rebranded like this: www.amazon.co.uk/Hearprotek-earplugs-festival-essentials-protection-motorcycle/dp/B0CJ9JYH3B (though not actually this) They seemed to work ok, though I'm not sure how to tell. At the very least they didn't make things sound bad. I was in a bit of a rush though, and there aren't as many options available over here as in the UK/US.

spoiler: the search did not decide to be useful. This is the post where I asked about earplugs before so there are some replies in the few pages after that: fontgeek.io/post/519291(page 30 if that doesn't work well)

It's funny you mention earplugs... because I forgot mine when I went to see Melt Banana in Brighton last night, and I had to bail after 6 of their songs because it was literally ear piercing stuff!! My friend's band Lower Slaughter supported them and I was fine during their set though, so that was the main thing Great night, Lower Slaughter were awesome, kind of a mix of stoner rock / grunge / punk, they're all 40+ so resonated well with me ha Melt Banana were fun, not my kinda thing... but fun, and really fucking loud.

That's begging to be made into a gif!
She was surprisingly good at Victorious fest last year. I wouldn't count myself as a fan, but somehow knew most of her songs.

I remember seeing Swans about ten years ago and they were handing out earplugs on the way in.
They were definitely needed.

Went to see Pond last night at Gorilla in Manchester. Easily one of the best gigs I've ever been to. Think they are playing Leeds tonight and its not sold out, so get yourself down there if you are close by

Re: earplugs Zuluhero @bill in the rain I have fancy ones by bollsen for sleeping if it is noisy. i. e. My son is up late raging at xbox/talking loudly on the phone to girls at 1 in the fucking morning. They also do gig ones. Expensive but good. Only sound-damping though. Comfier than the cheapo squish in ones.

I wore earplugs at Sunn O))) this time around.
It didn’t sound less loud but it did feel less punishing during the heavy bits so they must’ve been doing me some good.

I've never worn earplugs at a gig. My missus used free ones from mogwai at the one gig of theirs she went to. She'd have tried to shove another pair in there if she could've!
She still hates me for taking her to that one!

At the risk of losing all me street cred (that I most definitely have, thank you), Olivia Rodrigo was ace! I didn't take my earplugs as our seats were at the back of the arena on the 3rd floor, but I had reckoned without 15,000 screaming fans being insanely loud. Jesus! Ow! Really great show though, with tons of energy and great crowd interactions. Excellent pop concert, but also for about 20 minutes near the end a pretty damn good rock concert too. At one point there were 3 electric guitars and a bass all rocking out with full on distortion. Good all female band she's put together as well. It was a bit weird at first being drastically outnumbered by young girls in purple and glitter, but I did have an excuse as it was a birthday present for the eldest.
Bonus points for innovative use of a glass floor on the stage that I've not seen before.

I very nearly went to see them in Tokyo a month or so back. Would have done if I hadn't already spent too much on tickets recently. But if they'd asked me those questions I'd have been in trouble, as I don't think I could name one of their songs. Maybe it's a kind of performance art piece, like that art gallery in Aus. I wouldn't put it past them. Kinda wish I'd gone now... (not for the searching!)

I quite liked their songs Sinner and Nothing Matters when they popped up on my Discovery queue (had to double check the names of those songs, so I would have failed the test), and there seemed to be lots of raving about them in the press last year. Listened to the album and I thought everything else was very forgettable.
Certainly no Wet Leg.
