Yeah Furysword with 10 Humanity is almost easy mode, it’s so fast and does decent damage against nearly everything

Yeah, but the furysword makes really short work of the rats so you're never far away from having enough humanity.
Till you fall off a ledge obviously

hedben Just use what you want and nail the necromancers. They're easy enough.

If you’ve got it then I recommend Gargoyle’s Halberd, a Divine version will destroy them increases bleed resistance as a bonus too if you’ve not got it then use a hammer weapon as it knocks them down easy. Reinforced club is cheap and surprisingly effective

Never liked the great scythes in DS1 or DS2, the movesets just weren't very scythey. The DS3 one though, that's a scythe. Shame the one from the DLC has that constant icey sound effect on it. Does my head in and renders it unusable
Anyway, Velka's Rapier. It's classy

Friede's Scythe? The WA is sexy though.

Yep, I used the normal scythe all the way through with Friede's being my end game goal and then the sound effect attached to it ruined it for me. Such a shame

Quick summary of my time so far this evening:
- "This walkthrough I'm following goes all over the place, it's killing the joy of exploration, I'm sure I can figure it out on my own like the old days" - "Ah, The Depths. I remember this place. I even know that Butcher's waiting in ambush, I'm great at this game!" - "These slug things are still bloody annoying" - "Oh shit I fell down a hole!" - "OH SHIT CURSE NEWTS!"
- To Be Continued -

And I still haven't killed that bloody massive rat either

Asked my buddy who just passed them and he was just like nah, they were weird and hardly damaged me, no big deal. I’m guessing curse never triggered for him and was tempted to send him down hollow tree next

Those newts were the most terrifying enemies thus far, hands down, for me. They aren't a big problem in the sewers, but in the hollow tree they can fuck right off.

ekz That is a really tough question. If I were you I'd start with Dark Souls Remastered, and usually I'd recommend the PC version because it has a bigger playerbase, but there's also the issue of cheaters. I've personally had almost no problems with cheaters but other people say they're seriously bothered by them. This won't be an issue on xbox, but the downside is that you'll likely find fewer people to play with. Co-op is really the soul of this game so I wouldn't discount that. Beyond that, you should avoid wikis and game guides and try to get to grips with the game on your own, and ask for help when you need it, either from a friend who knows the game or from us over here. That's really the best way to experience it.

I've never played the game online, nor would I want to. Havings signs all over the place and seeing people running around would just annoy me and ruin the atmosphere/sense of isolation. It's not even remotely core to the experience in my opinion
I'd just go with whichever platform is most convenient. Dark Souls 3 is the most modern but the combat is faster paced than the first two games due to the Bloodborne influence. The first game is getting on a bit but is considered the best by most people and has all the iconic bosses, etc. The second game is my personal favourite but it's different enough from the others that I wouldn't really recommend it as a first entry into the series (but don't sleep on it if you enjoy the first one)
I started with Bloodborne, then Dark Souls 3, 1 and 2 and I enjoyed them all so just go with whatever takes your fancy. If it's going to click, it probably will with any of them

Dark souls 3. It’s the best and least annoying one. Then you can go back and play the rest.

I’d say DS:remastered on your Xbox - if that’s where you prefer to play with a controller. Performance shouldn’t be an issue and the game is brilliant. I got summons (help) easily enough a few months back, and I guess hackers shouldn’t be an issue on Xbox

I remember when the game first came out and curse stacked. So you'd be on 1/2 health, get cursed again and be on 1/4 health, then get cursed again. They patched that out though
