There's nothing quite as encouraging as gearing up to platinum/1000G Dark Souls 3, printing out achievement lists and everything... And then the very first achievement we try and get (Master of Infusion) is bugged and doesn't pop

God, I loved a notebook back in the day. Had a chunky original Demon’s Souls one.

JuniorFE - that sucks. It seems to very glitchy / picky but might be worth trying to do it with a new character all in one go For general Plat tips - I don’t know if they increased the drop rate for vertebra shackles & proof of concords, but when I did it, it was abysmally low. Teeth grinding bad Also Son of Sam is a right bastard and you have to do him at NG+2 for a unique ring, so buy a spare controller. Good luck (honestly)

Three fucking days farming silver knights for ears had me in tears.

It will have to be a new character, because we are running out of gems. In any case, thanks!!! Those covenant rewards do sound difficult

I can't bring myself to play 3 anymore although I might have patted the Steam version later. I'm not bitter you're bitter. Shutup.

Aunt Alison The way I read it, Danno 's PS4 died on him before giving that trophy and it would be the last one, along with the platinum...
Tough luck mate

I was going to mention pure bladestone in og demons, but if anyone is old enough, the grind for journeyman boots in everquest required multiple days at a time to try and get these fucking things.
As in, 3 or 4 days without sleep or you lose your place.
Mental.
Scars.

Or Flan Princesses in FF4. Never done it, and if you put a gun to my head and told me to do it I'd probably just say "Shoot me now".
1/64 chance of Flan Princesses appearing, in one single room in the final dungeon, then if they drop an item there's a 1/64 chance of being the Pink Tail you want. Then, since the tail is traded for the best body armour in the game bar none, the Adamant Armour, and everyone can equip it, you're looking for a minimum of five (5) of them if you're min-maxing, two if you only want them for Cecil and Kain. Have fun!

This game is a lot bigger than I expected.
I've duffed in Smough and his mate and met the rather incongruous buxom wench. Now I'm in what is basically Raya Lucaria Academy fighting crystal arseholes and squids. Assumed the 3 yellow gates would have bosses behind them and I'd be done soon. I'm kinda spent tbh, but instead another 3+ areas to explore!

Fortunately, the only epic weapon quest I ever did was the Beastlord one, which didn’t involve any truly awful low-drop situations.

I remember some other guys I played with doing the eyepatch one but I didn't get involved in that. Maybe it was because I was Kos to most of the human and gnome races. I do, however, have very fond memories of the estate of unrest. I loved it in there. It was a seriously tricky journey to get there alone too. "TRAIN TO ZONE!" Ah, those were the days! I still have it installed on my PC with the eq1999 mod, and can cast it via steam onto the telly. I have a level 17 gnome necro, doncha know, parked at unrest

Bloody dark souls and it's namby pandy npcs.
In everquest, if you simply went to the wrong town you were automatically killed by the guards and had to find other ways to get in.

I wrote a blog post once about how ludicrously unforgiving EQ was by modern standards. No in-game map, just artists’ impressions of the main towns. I rolled a Ranger and started in Surefall Glade, which wasn’t mentioned at all. No bank there, either. Where’s Qeynos, I asked people? It’s on the other side of Qeynos Hills. Which is a level 4-8 zone. Just keep going South. Except you don’t know which way South is. There is no compass. Sense Heading needs to be trained like any other skill, and your cap at 1st level is 25…

Sense Heading needs to be trained like any other skill, and your cap at 1st level is 25… You've just brought back loads of memories. I remember having to setup the hot keys and sense heading was the first one I had to start levelling up so I could work out where the fuck I was going. I rolled a high elf cleric to start with, called vinylblair. In the end I think I got him to about level 38. High elves start in felwithe. Which is a forest with the village shops high up in the trees. Crushbone was the first area with a boss - commander djinn. He was a right bastard then in the other direction was mistmoore Castle where I stumbled onto at level 3 or so. Yeah, that didn't last long. But yeah, it was so unforgiving but at the time, apart from meridian 59, that's all that was out there. And can you remember desperately trying to get your body back after a death? Because if you lost it, you lost everything on it. Permanently. Total bastard! Wow, sense heading. That's really taken me back Believe it or I still try and learn the piano to kelethin theme, which is the starting location for elves. Still haven't nailed it. Lovely music though. Today is going to be a nostalgia day!

I was replaying EQ with the latest TLP server for a while this year for a big of nostalgia. It was nice to wander the old zones and reminisce about the good times making the run from Qeynos to Freeport before the POP portals were a thing, but man that game was a pain in the arse sometimes (all the time).

Turns out it was on my old PC, it's that long since I played it.
I'm going to reinstall it and see if I can remember my old login. If not, I'll just roll a new char to have a nostalgia hit

Think I had a bard going in qeynos actually aswell as my necro in steamfont
I've gotta hear the kelethin music again though so it'll have to be an elf of some sort
I can't remember anything about the classes and what suits what. Doesn't really matter as I can't see myself playing it for long. But then I said that last time, and ended up with a 17 necro in unrest having a right laugh
