I bought and downloaded DS3 last night just before I went to bed. Thought I'd have a cheeky 5 minutes or so to see what's what. Pulled some fucking sword out of the ground which pissed off a big guy 2 minutes into the game and got fucked up. Ah, you should have paid attention, you actually pulled the sword out of his chest. That's why he's pissed off.

I like Blighttown. I assumed its reputation came mainly from the poor performance of the original, which has been addressed in the Remastered version. The poison is a bit annoying but that's right at the end anyway

Dung pies for shite Town. Toxic yourself and the blow Dart guys do fuck all to you. The toxic caused by dung pies ticks down MUCH slower.

I know where they all are now, but it was a pain beforehand. But yeah, spider shield and run up to them is generally my tactic

I genuinely think that guy is overpowered for when you have to fight him - in your starting gear, and before you can level up. I found him more annoying than many of the later bosses. Mind you, I have a history for having trouble with bosses everyone else thinks are easy and/or straightforward. I have still never beaten the Capra Demon in DS1 without help, and I struggled with Vordt in DS3 as well. But I also killed every non-DLC boss in DS3, including the Nameless King, so I don’t think it’s just because I’m hopeless.

I get that too. I can do most bosses relatively easy but nito always fucks me up for some reason. It's weird how you get specific bosses that you can breeze through but other players struggle, and vice versa. Mental block I think.

The difficulty of bosses in Dark Souls is all over the place. Whenever I do a boss like High Lord Wolnir, I imagine they must have just gone oh well fuck it, that'll do

Made it to Anor Londo last night. The bonfire in a room just after 2 pain in the arse archers on a narrow walkway seems to be a PvP spot- I invaded a Gravelord a couple of times, then got invaded myself.
The git who invaded me seemed to have a huge amount of health- I must have hit them 10 times at least (3 of which were while they were trying to heal).
I shouldn't have been smug about Ormstein and Smough in my last post because I'll be seeing them again soon...

Was holding my own as a Herald until he turned into a tree.
I like how much slicker this is than DS:R

It did occur to me that perhaps I should continue my DS3 playthrough at the same time as my DS:R playthrough, since I'm already "in the zone". But I abandoned it somewhere around the catacombs (is that the place with lots of enemies that don't stay dead for long?) and probably wouldn't have a clue where to go next

That's a very good point that I hadn't considered. Best just finish one and start the (one after) next then

The run up to the boss was mercifully short, took me about 15 more tries plus a how to beat video and some rage before I sacked him. He felt easier to fight as a tree somehow - I suppose that makes sense. Felt really good getting him ded. Thank you whoever put the "strong enemy ahead" before the skinny fucker with a long skinny sword - I got my level ups done before he proceeded to mmmonsterkill me. I think he would have been as tough to beat as the tree guy, but third time somehow he got stunlocked and my stamina repleted before he got unstunned, so I pushed him over the edge. Yay, Uchigatana! Im doing the mercenary and supposedly the starter sword is also really strong. I must say relative to Demons Souls (PS5), DS3 feels about identical in slickness to DS:R. Feels very familiar. I like it - nothing horrible so far, all deaths feel like I could just do something different next time and be fine. Not like those awful areas in DS2 where eventually the game pitied me enough to Deshawn the enemies. Oof.

Yeah I was getting ready to rage. Luckily I got him done before I gave up the game. What I've liked about the other games is you can pretty much always power through a part that's too hard - either by summons or getting some guidance online or some super cheese (like that awful Capra Demon)
