I've seen one Stephen's Sausage Roll thread here and there wasn't any meat on it, so that just won't do. Talk about the puzzle games that make you feel like a genius when you get it and a dunce when you don't. Sokobanlikes, Zachlikes, Minesweeperlikes, Picrosslikes, Portallikes, Mystlikes, and anything else you can think of.
My recent obsession has been A Monster's Expedition, which recently got a modest expansion with new puzzles and exhibitions. It doesn't unseat Stephen's Sausage Roll from its throne of Best Game About Pushing Cylinders Around; SSR is super dense and every puzzle is a nails-hard challenge, while AME is a bit more laid-back and doesn't make you fight as hard for your progress. At its hardest, though, AME is WAY harder than SSR, in ways I'm not sure I like.
I've managed to uncover all the exhibitions, but many of the snowmen still elude me. I dip back in once in a while to see if I can spot any new solutions, but because I'm at the point where I don't even know where to start on getting to a particular undiscovered island, my progress is slow as molasses. The vast majority of the main puzzles were very enjoyable to solve, though, and it has that same escalation of the possibility space as SSR, so I highly recommend both.
What about you? What are your faves? What do you struggle with?

Kind of boring but my favourite Puzzle games are the Picross S games.
I have played better / more inventive puzzlers like Portal, the Witness and Baba is You but just prefer Picross.
Should probably play the one that was on PS5+, Marquette?, at some point. Sounds a bit like the PSVR game A Fisherman’s Tale which I liked but had a few control issues.

Excellent, a thread for the older gamer.
Currently playing Dear Reader on ipad. Wordplay puzzles mixed in with reading some classic books. Its no Dark Souls, but is super chilled before bed.
Tried 2nd best cylinder pusher A Monsters Expedition and got stuck pretty early on. Might have to give it another spin.

If you consider Catherine a full blood puzzle game, that's one I turned out to be rather good at. I beat everything the original version had to offer on the highest difficulty level.
Though, the Full Bodied Editon has new modes that are even more challenging so eventually the developers stepped things up for anybody who found the original easy, it really does offer a signifcant ramp up in challenge.

Cappy that's impressive, if I remember rightly didn't they have to add an easy mode soon after release too? I really liked that game but was rubbish at it. I'm playing Cosmic Express at the moment, lovely little game. For me it has just the right balance of mostly accessible puzzles mixed in with an occasional real toughie. Based on that I've bought Sokobond and A Good Snowman so looking forward to those too.

They changed things by the time of the overseas release, if memory serves me correctly: Very easy became easy, easy became normal and normal became hard.
Full Bodied Edition has a new difficulty level called 'safety mode' that doesn't even have a time limit or traps meaning that anybody can finish it now.

I was rubbish at Catherine.
It was more an issue with which direction Vincent would move than the logic of which blocks to pull where. For some reason I could never get fully accustomed to it.
So yeah, well done Cappy for finishing it on the hard setting.

I can remember enjoying Meteos but cannot remember how it played. Just remember some asteroid type rocks in different colours.

Excellent, a thread for the older gamer. Tried 2nd best cylinder pusher A Monsters Expedition and got stuck pretty early on. Might have to give it another spin. Let me know what you got stuck on. It does a good job of guiding the player but I myself have gotten stuck a good number of times to some blind spots that were only obvious once I had them pointed out to me. I'm playing Cosmic Express at the moment, lovely little game. For me it has just the right balance of mostly accessible puzzles mixed in with an occasional real toughie. Based on that I've bought Sokobond and A Good Snowman so looking forward to those too. Cosmic Express was surprisingly one I didn't get along with at all. I don't know why, it might require a completely different way of thinking than the usual block-pushers that I couldn't grok. Sokobond was more up my alley, but it got bastard hard pretty quick and I never managed to complete it. I did complete A Good Snowman but I wasn't into it enough to dive into the post-game bonus puzzles. This does point to a good trend for Draknek though: each of their new games I'm more likely to complete than the last. I wonder if the upcoming Sokobond-Cosmic Express hybrid will be any friendlier to my mindset. I've never given Catherine a second look due to my severe allergy to anime. I didn't even realize it was a puzzle game. Is it as hectic as the trailer makes it look, or is something you can take on one move at a time?

I played a lot of Puzzle Quest on x360, one of the best match-3 games out there (screw you Candy Crush). Aside from that... does Into The Breach count? I do a lot of puzzling over my next move in that...

I love Slitherlink on the DS (still play it occasionally). Picross as well.
I can also recommend Pullblox on the 3DS.
Oh, what about Fez? I'd consider that a puzzle game as well (an awesome one).

LTK will do thanks man. Currently balls deep in Grindstone and The Oregon Trail, but will go back to AME when done with these. Loving Apple Arcade at the mo.

@ LTK There is a game within the game called Rapunzel where you have to complete stages within a set number of turns but otherwise Catherine does put you under time pressure at higher difficulties.

Fez and Into The Breach totally count! Puzzle platformers are maybe not the most 'pure' genre, as they often have significant action and/or narrative elements included (see: Limbo, Trine) but there are some real standout examples among them nonetheless. I want to highlight Closure and Gateways as particularly underappreciated ones, and I also recommend both Escape Goats, The Swapper, and Semblance.
Into The Breach fits mostly into the turn-based tactics genre, but the fact you have almost complete information of the battlefield makes it very puzzley too. I just can't think of any other similar games that I would also class as puzzlers.

Gotta give a mention to Carto It's not the most complex puzzle game, but it's a very nice overall package. It's on Game Pass too

LTK Yeah I do think it's maybe a different sort of thinking required for CE when compared to Sokoban style games - I'm actually usually quite crap at those sorts of games (yet repeatedly buy them - still have Stevens Sausage Roll unplayed in my Steam library which I imagine is heresy to some folks). Cosmic Express weirdly reminds me of Rush Hour but I think it might just be because of the transport theme and the perspective.

I probably play more puzzle games than any other genre these days, although they tend to be simpler ones like Bejewelled and Peggle. I'm currently enjoying Lumines and Tetris on Game Pass.

Gorogoa is a great game. Quite short but so inventive and unique. A must play imho.

Still love Puzzle Bobble 2. First one was a tad simplistic, the sequels added too much stuff, the second is just perfect. Never managed the 1CC, but I will.
Lumines is brilliant, it just takes an absolute age to play once you get good at it. I still love it though.

They should remaster Pandora's Box. That was ace back in the day. I still have an ISO of it somewhere, just the music alone has a sedative effect on me, even if the later puzzles are crazily frustrating.

Into The Breach is a masterclass in game design. I think I only once came up against a level that I didn't think could be done, all the other times if things went south it was purely my fault...
I don't know if Outer Wilds can be considered puzzle but I love those types of games, where the things that block progress is just knowledge, not unlocks of 10% more speed or a double jump or something... So yeah, also the Witness...

The Room series is as good a tablet game as I've ever played.
But my favourite game of the last 10 years or so is The Talos Principle. The existential stuff is wank, but the puzzle design and game world is outstanding. I've lost count of how many times I've replayed it.
Knocks The Witness into a cocked hat IMO

I gave up on the Witness pretty fast because it felt so directionless. Like give me a narrative to host the puzzles or make the puzzles themselves interesting enough to keep me going.
Even a flimsy premise like how Prof Layton incorporates its puzzles.
Obra Dinn and Papers Please must be two of the best at blending narrative and puzzle outside of a proper adventure game.

I thought I was going to be the first one to mention this. Fantastic game that supplied me with many a "Wait, I get it! I'm a genius!" moments. I once stopped playing for about three months, went back to the same puzzle and within a couple of minutes went "Ohhhhh!" ETA Obra Dinn is so different from any other game I kind of forgot it was essentially a puzzle game. One of my favourite games of all time.
