Weird run in Binding of Isaac. Was the xxxxxxxl challenge, the one with the huge maps, and I found mom's pill bottle pretty early on, then progressed to eat about 10 "one makes you smaller" pills, resulting in a tiny, tiny Isaac as seen in the screenshot (bottom right of the green brain). Was kind of annoying, because I kept losing my own position on the screen, but it was very useful in the fight against mom's heart, because it made dodging projectiles very easy.

Accuracy is also used in melee and when trying to affect enemies with spells.Well, ok, then it's actually a problem I guess the way it's depicted my own perception defaulted to equating Accuracy to Strength+Dexterity in terms of chance to hit.

Even if I have a soft spot for the original low textures look, Shadow Man Remastered is looking mighty fine with the uprezzed textures and ultrawide, I must say.

crashV👀d👀 : The prominent truck and something about the graphics in that makes me think "truck simulator". I guess it's only a matter of time before they add guns to those as well. A few screens from the "new" Lion's Arch in Guild Wars 2. The old city was destroyed in a story event just around the time I stopped playing (8-ish years ago) so I hadn't seen this version before. It's very shiny and there's some neat stuff but on the whole I think I prefered the old labyrinthine pirate shanty town feel it used to have.

Very pretty. If it wasn't an MMO I would be tempted.

Very pretty. If it wasn't an MMO I would be tempted. Yeah, I feel like I'm pretty much done with MMOs, but I'm playing GW2 essentially as a single player action adventure game; doing the stories and exploring the zones like the filthy casual tourist I am. Occasionally I'll do bigger open world events or team up with people for open world challenges. And the game is completely fine with that. My characters aren't weaker than someone who has cleared every raid and challenge dungeon because the gear from those things don't give more stats than what you can craft or quest for (and the gear I made 8 years ago is still just as good today). Nothing is gated off by anything other than soloable story quests. The moment-to-moment combat is actually fun.
And perhaps most surprisingly: I've played for a couple of months now and I haven't come across a single person being a dick. I'm sure you'll run into some dickbags if you do really high-end stuff, but out in the world where I've been running around everyone is either doing their own thing or being actively nice and helpful.
But yeah, it's still an MMO and certainly doesn't do everything perfectly. But the things I really dislike about MMOs (the horrible community, boring combat, the gear grind, forcing you to do specific content over and over again) aren't there in this one.

Now that did just strongly remind me of "The Secret World". Or at least it did remind me of the impression I have of it from how people talk about it.

Danno Sorry, this won't help: The game that got me hooked on PC gaming back in the day was Warcraft II. I realised a couple of days ago that it turns 27 this year. Go back 27 years from when that was released and you're in 1968, a time when I wasn't born and nobody even had a computer at home . I have no problem with getting older, but it's no wonder the pesky kids (even adults!) these days don't care about us and what we think about games.

Miscellaneous cock-ups
That looks painful.
Not as bad as this, though.
That ain't right.
What a pose to die in. And I mean it's no wonder he's dead, if the Kaylon troops didn't do it then his head clipping through the Orvilles' deck would.
I don't even... what is this?

Reminded me of this friendly NCR Ranger just casually popping in through the floor to give me a compliment.
Oh, and this from Dragon Age: Origins, which I guess they forgot to test for dwarf PCs.

Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns. I was going to make a single post with HoT screens but as it turns out I had taken rather a lot, so here's a batch from the Verdant Brink map. I'll say right off the bat that in terms of design these are among my favourite game maps ever. They blow the original ones out of the water. The scale and intricacy is mental and they managed to make navigating the spaces a whole game in itself. As someone playing the game mainly for the exploration and poking my nose into every corner they've been an absolute treat to explore. They're also very pretty.
The story of this place is that there's an evil nature dragon in the jungle. The Pact (good guy army) charges in with a fleet of airships to take on the dragon, which doesn't end well when the jungle itself come alive, shooting up massive vines that rip the fleet from the sky and all but annihilates your entire force. You arrive after the disaster to start picking up the pieces.
There are three "layers" to this map. The middle layer, where most of the quests and events take place, is a jungle sprawling over a bunch of mesas separated by deep ravines. Lots of caves and old ruins litter the place. Pretty standard fantasy game stuff.
Then there's the canopy far above, essentially a lot of disconnected platforms made up of huge treetops, vines and broken, burning airship debris.
The map events run on a day/night cycle. During the day you do events to organise and build up camps all over the jungle. At night all the camps come under massive repeated attacks and then a bunch of world bosses spawn up in the canopy that you can go kill for some sweet loot.
The game didn't have mounts, much less any flying ones, when this was released. To get around you get a glider and there are air currents you can use to gain altitude and glide from place to place.
I haven't seen this much verticality in anything that wasn't a flight- or space sim.
Then there's the third layer of the map: Throw yourself off a cliff and you can explore the Depths of the ravines between the mesas.
The "floor" deep below is a mass if writhing tendrils that will kill you dead, so you have to use the glider and air currents to navigate here as well.
Some airships have crashed or been pulled down here too.
There are some challenges and treasure to find down here, but mostly it's an eerie and surreal place to explore.
Lastly I had to include this lute-playing frog dude I came across up in a treetop.

Guild Wars 2, Auric Basin. Doesn't have the crazy verticality of the previous map, though there's still a lot of gliding and delving into caves and crevasses. It's a giant bowl with a huge golden city in the middle surrounded by intensely hostile jungle. I still did a lot of tree climbing though, because they're there.
Also the jungle floor is full of things that want to (and probably will) murder you. Life lesson: If you want to go AFK for a bit, always climb a tree first.

Finally giving Space Engineers a go.
After some initial faffing around, I decided to build an engine assembly first, and then construct the rest of the ship around it.
Put a control console on top of one of the ion engines, just to judge how fast six massive engines could potentially be. That one engine tore itself free of the catwalks and tore the whole construction apart.
10/10, will play until "Oh my good grief, it's five in the morning" again.
