I want to like it because like you said, It may be the greatest realistic FPS created. I just cant enjoy it when as a low level player you have no chance because all the ammo you have access to is useless against anyone with any sort of armour.

Actually neither of your concerns are much of an issue, you don't have to play against sweaty tanks, you can run  SPT-AKI and enjoy a perfectly respectable singleplayer experience that mimics online play as much or as little as you desire. Play at your own pace, learn the maps, level up your skills and build a formidable arsenal to your heart's content.

I don't do all that well in live play, maybe a 50/50 survival rate, but I've been having genuine fun with that mod, just pottering about, learning the maps, tracking down sweatlord PMCs and scalping scav bosses. It's just about perfect. I'm actually shocked it hasn't been rolled into the vanilla game, but I suppose they have bigger fish to fry.

Picking this up after I complete RDR2. It's right up my street.

The built in singleplayer is a bit of a letdown and it'll only be you vs scavs, but you can crank up their spawnrate numbers and it's hilarious fun.

Yes whack the spawn rate up and just practice shooting and medding.

From what I've seen so far, it's maps, ammo and meds that at the things to learn.

Ha, I've been playing with the single-player mod and it's incredible. The inventory management side alone is almost enough for me!

I won't be going online any time soon.

I already know the learning curve is steep but I've got some of the basics covered so just decided to load up in customs as a scav with a map on the second monitor and wing it.

I didn't realise just how lost I would feel. Navigating and controls are fine and it runs like a dream but I just couldn't match a landmark to the map to work out where I was and which way to go.

decided to just meander around testing my run, crouch, sneak. Looted some stuff which will take getting used to.

Got shot.

I did some stash management and met the traders etc and then went back in as another scav. I was at the petrol station. Snuck in and started looting the registers and side rooms. The soundscape is amazing.

I heard somebody running around the building, I ducked in a room and waited, listening. I heard him go into a room. I snuck out of my room and sure enough the door to the other room was open, he was in there. I closed the door and then all the sound in the room stopped. Is he nervous too?

I made my way to the shop and kept a bead on the room. The door opened and there, stood in silhouette a figure just staring at me.

BANG! BANG. BANG. BANG

The body slumped to the floor along with his shotgun and mounted flashlight.

I ran over and grabbed all his shit and legged it to factory corner. Es-cap-aaaaay

I've been waiting for a price drop offer and also the new patch/wipe so that I'm not completely outmatched.

I'm nowhete near any kind of leet gamer now and my aim is shit at the best of times but the new inertia system seems to even the odds for slow players like me

I've realised that I have a bunch of sound eq settings that have been making it more difficult than most. Ambient wind was louder than footsteps, genuinely couldnt hear other people outside, just howling wind.

It's like night and day now. Much more fun last night, actually got some proper kills where I tracked people just by listening to them.

Saw this one guy outside of the building I was in. He didn't come in the front door because I think he'd seen me, he slowly crept around to the rear door that was open. I just stood in place, panning around and following hia footsteps around the wall. He reached the door and opened it straight into my double barrel shotgun to the face. BOOM!

Love being a dirty little stealth rat.

MadCaddy I thought you could only buy direct. Probably safest as you can only play online (unless modding)

It's crazy just how lost you feel without a map. Ok my first few runs I spent minutes trying to not get shot and work out where I was.

I've worked out that I can't use the insurance mechanism because how infrequently I play. The chance if me getting back on within the next 48 hours to collect my gear is unknow so it's just a waste of cash.

I have hardly any guns cos I keep using them in raids. So many naked runs with the PMC. The problem I've been having with skav runs is that the gun you get is usually shit or the the ammo is the crappiest of the crap so it feels like I'm shooting nerf darts at a terminator

Fell for a stupid scam yesterday. Such a dumbass moment. Me and my friend just started a skav run when we bumped into another skav in factory. We said hi, we’re skavs, friendly etc. then I said as a joke ‘let’s get him’ and he was a bit weary after that and he then asked if one of us could shoot him in the leg for a task. I completely forgot that skavs don’t have tasks etc. so I obliged only for him to shoot me in the head after. So I got bad skav karma and him good. Such a dick.
