When our dad died, my brother had just bought the first DVD player we had in the house and the only thing he'd bought was a Friends box set, so the family spent the week relieving ourselves from any sadmin with a cup of team and some light relief. I always come back to the bank and Jill Goodacre, such a great character.

Absolutely gutted about Matthew Perry. For a huge part of my life Friends was (and sometimes still is) always on in the background - it's the most 'Comfort TV' I can think of. Used to binge the box-sets with my own friends and we still throw quotes and GIFs at each other in WhatsApp and real life fairly regularly. RIP. Yeah it was such a big part of school back in the 90s when it started. Everyone watched it, everyone talked about it. Me and the mrs used to have it on as our comfort telly when E4 started repeating it after it originally finished. My boy recently got into it and watched the whole lot last year. His wee face when I broke the news at the weekend ☹️. Yep our daughter got heavily into when she was quite a bit younger than we watched it, and still watches it off and on. I don’t think it’ll ever die. The kids watching it now will find it has new meanings to them as they approach their 20s and 30s and watch it again. When they are middle aged like us they will watch it again for nostalgia both for the show and for when they were that age. And long may it continue. It’s sad that Perry brought happiness to so many millions of people and still was always such a troubled soul. |

I did but did you also note during my several revisions that I also edited out that Mrs Mercury is on the larger side of life (as am I) and that I'm quite happy with that? Frankly you're damned whatever you say.
