Former wrestler Darren “Droz” Drozdov died aged 54. For those not in the know, he was paralysed from the neck down in the ring about 25 years ago when a move got botched. Even before that he was having a miserable time of it with being ladled with drug dealer and cross dressing gimmicks. For every Dwayne Johnson who makes it there are twenty Drozdovs who just get chewed up and spat out by that business.

Been meaning to watch the film as just finished the book (bit late to the party) Cool. As big and as loud as you can manage. I was lucky enough to see it at The Cornerhouse in Manchester in early 90s I think. Stupendous. |

Alan Arkin was one of those ‘actor’s actors’. Seemed to be so highly respected within the industry.
Check out his turn as Inspector Clouseau if you want to see literally the worst thing ever.

This one has been huge in my friend circle. Such a big influence on so many local punk bands and he made a lot of dreams come true when he played with a bunch of them when Obits were in town. We got to put them up that night and they were real gents even with fanboys hanging on and goggling at him like a zoo exhibit. |

I was at a small concert a few years ago where she performed a few songs from her time with Serge Gainsbourg. Lovely person (Jane, not Serge).

I think Geefe is merely observing that surviving bowel cancer for 9 years is better than it could have been. It's not belittling.

I never met him, but his late wife was a childhood friend of my aunt, growing up on the same street, so when they would come over to visit her parents he would come out and have chats with all the neighbour blokes about that "footballing" game, including my late grandad. |
