Cormac McCarthy has apparently passed away. 89.
The Road is obviously a famous one, but Blood Meridian is genuinely one of the most disturbing/brutal novels I've ever read. An absolute classic.

 Saw him play dozens of times in my early years, not a world beater by any means, but the slow majestic jog back after scoring one of his rare headers was always good to watch. Dementia recently I believe, from those very headers sadly. A nice bloke by all accounts, his niece once wrote a very nice letter to Viz about him  RIP big Gordon |

I had a reprint of "The Night Gwen Stacy Died" in one of those annuals you'd get for Christmas/New Year as a kid. That one always stuck with me, both the dark tone of the story and the quality of the art.
