I listen to The Smiths less these days, as I find it hard to disassociate Morrissey the frontman, from Morrissey the massive twat he has become (even more of), but for a long time they were a band I listened to almost every day.
Their music is burned into me, and as someone who focusses on the rhythm section above all else, Andy's playing was essential to their sound.
Barbarism has one of my all time favourite basslines in any genre - and for me he's up there with James Jamerson.
Very sad news.
