100 years old holds very little appeal when you’ll probably spend your days staring at the walls of a care home

And of course, I'm late to the party.

So 2 things I used to love in the eighties have lost people today. Saint and Greavsie was just great and the best prog of its type until Jeffers got Soccer Special. And Boycie as well At least they both lived long lives and extremely successful careers.
as for youthist, I know what you are saying mate. I'm hoping for nineties, but will cash-out now for 86! (my youngest child will be 50 at that point) which will be older than my grandad's and father.

I do always find it kind of crazy when a beloved footballer dies and they show a few glory days pictures of them looking like they are 50. Some tough paper rounds in the 60s.

A few years back I was a bit obsessed about Greaves, watched quite a few docs and youtube recordings, what a player. One of the top goalscorers of all time.
Remember him telling a story when he was a youngster at Chelsea getting the tube to the game, stopping for a pint and roast dinner, then playing (and usually scoring) at the match at 3pm.

Ah fuck I loved Boycie! I met him once when he was doing panto, playing Captain Hook. His wife did the costumes and they were as nice a couple as you could hope to meet.

I was actually rewatching all of Only Fools recently, so it's actually a bit of a shock.

I knew you were cheating, Boycie. Coz that wasn't the hand I dealt you!
Has actually made me feel very sad. What was the spin off show they did? The Green Green Grass?

Everything after they got rich In my mind, thats the last episode. They toiled, they got rich, the end. It changed the overall arc to poor people should stay poor because they'd just squander it anyway. Which really shouldn't bother me because it's just a sitcom but it rankles

Greg Gilbert of The Delays died yesterday, after 5 years fighting bowel cancer. They guy was 44. Fuck.
Feeling really gutted, they were our favourite local band. Mrs Chug and I saw them loads- they did a Christmas homecoming gig in a little venue in Southampton most years, consistently a brilliant night out.
I will be giving Faded Seaside Glamour a spin this morning.

That's really fucking shit, a cracking band and what a simply incredible voice, a genuine talent that's been lost far too young. R.I.P Greg.

Had a VHS of Fingerbobs that my nan recorded. Had things like Parsley the Lion and Ivor the Engine on it as well, spent many a sleepless night watching it. Sad day.
