Lucky enough to see him live about 10 years ago. He was fantastic, despite the pissing rain.

Shit, one of the few classic guitar heroes who made some worthwhile music.

Jeff Becks cover of Superstition when playing in 'Beck, Bogert & Appice' is one of my favourite ever tracks. Absolute blistering guitar work, proper heavy and better than the original.
If you haven't heard it check it out

I was lucky enough to see Jeff Beck in Sheffield on his recent tour. Johnny Depp even rocked up. Very memorable gig. One of a kind guitarist. RIP.

Great stuff, do check out the album version from the 70's album Beck, Bogert and Appice and turn it up loud, it will shake your windows it's so heavy

You can't get the first two records for love nor money already in physical formats. Those are brilliant, like a alt-universe Led Zeppelin with Rod Stewart back when he still had piss and vinegar. The bizarre scene of the Yardbirds doing Train Kept a Rollin', renamed 'Stroll On' for the film 'Blow Up' will always be one of the coolest things ever: youtu.be/jSJGEn4FDys

Lisa Marie Presley. She was only 54, and at the Golden Globes yesterday.

This is the host active thread on the site now. I wonder if there’s been a general uptick in mortality rates in recent weeks. Maybe extreme climate events have placed a little extra stress on people leading them to pop off more often.
I’ve turned down the temperature on my water heater after going through my fucking massive gas bills from the past twelve months a few days ago. Just got an email today from them saying the price is going up by 30%, what the actual fuck.

We're at the age where people who we've heard about growing up are dying. It's a preview of how it'll be with your friends in a few decades

54 is no age. Proximity to Michael Jackson and Nicholas Cage just deletes years off your life.
This being famous lark doesn’t sound especially healthy.

Van Conner of the Screaming Trees has gone. Another musician from the bands of my childhood.

Ooft.
I quite liked Screaming Trees.
Mostly because of Mark Lanegan, but I totally agree about the increase in deaths of youthful music band members being a shite reminder of increasing decrepitude.

Just saw the news about Van’s passing earlier. Gutted about that. They’d talked about reforming the Trees with a guest vocalist. Such a shame.

David Crosby, of the Byrds, CSNY etc. 81. Sad news. Still listen to early CSNY. He was 81. Can't help but think that if the 60's didn't kill you by 27, it somehow pickled you. RIP.

My fault, I looked at his Wikipedia last week and thought '81!? he lived hard so that's pretty good.'

BBC News - Beano's Bash Street Kids artist David Sutherland dies www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-64339747Ah man, The Bash Street Kids were always my favourite during the weekly 'read the Beano on the toilet' self-care routine of a young Lukus.
