Were you both talking a walk in the valley of the shadow of death, where you both took a look at your respective lives and realised there wasn't much left?

Big memories of forcing a friend’s dad to play Gangsta’s Paradise on repeat when he was being parent-taxi for us all for weeks when it first came out

Louise Fletcher was a nice woman who got typecast as utter bastards. By all accounts I've read though she really enjoyed those roles, so it worked out well. RIP to Fletcher. And RIP Coolio.

I’ve not watched the Roadrunner documentary yet but the impression I get from friends is that it does similar to what this book is being accused of - being reductive and trying to attach a reason to his suicide. And that reason for both seemingly being ‘Asia Argento killed him’. I know biographies of dead celebs always do this kind of thing but I think due to how relatively private Bourdain was about his emotional state it does all feel a quite ghoulish and intrusive this time. www.theguardian.com/food/2022/oct/01/i-am-lonely-controversial-book-reveals-anthony-bourdains-final-days

"In The Weeds - Around the World and Behind the Scenes with Anthony Bourdain" by Tom Vitale is about to come to the top of my reading pile.

That does sound a lot more interesting than the cash-in puff pieces and tabloidy muck raking ones. Seems like it’d be a lot more real if its that guy’s memoir of living with him.
I can’t remember which episode it is but there is one roundabout season 5 or 6 of Parts Unknown where Bourdain gets in a mood about something and then have to wrap up about half the episode without him.
I can fully imagine spending so much time with a depressive former drug addict and his friends like Iggy Pop, Josh Homme or AA Gill would be a nightmare even if he was also a super switched on cool guy.

One of the all time greatest Olympic moments but you just know they’d never let him near the track now.
I love that he keeps waving away the officials who just don’t get it.
I really want to watch with original commentary but youtube is all Coldplay dubs

I've got the music stuck in my head, except I've just realised it's actually the music to In Loving Memory, and now my memory is confused.

I always thought of Jessica Fletcher as some kind of underworld boss who was killing everyone and blaming it on patsy of the week who were too scared to speak up.

RIP Ms. Lansbury.
I don't know why, but it always seems sadder to me when they're just a few days from hitting their birthday.
