I used to get OPM as a christmas present too. Remember playing the ICO demo for a lot on Jesus Day

Here's a little curiosity for you retro (PS1 and 2 are retro, right?) mag fans, I found this in the loft today with a load of my old guitar mags. The memory came flooding back, some chap came into our college back in late '99 and gave a little talk to my business studies class about setting up his new gaming magazine called Playstation World, and handed out a sample copy to each student! It's different to the sample / preview copy you find sometimes on ebay, that's 36 pages long and has "free preview" or something in a big yellow star in the corner of the cover. This one is about 300 pages, but it's the same bunch of pages repeated over and over  It has "marbella preview special" on the spine, but Worthing is a long way from Marbella. The editor is none other than DF's Richard Leadbetter (he was editor of a number of other mags in his time as well), I have no idea if it was Richard who came in to talk to us that day.

I had every copy of Total! Magazine, I was about 8 or 9 when it launched. Steve Jarrat was the editor, he went on to launch Edge, and Andy Dyer was the writer (along with dozens of contributors). The art editor was called Baghead because he wore a bag on his head

I’ve still got all the issues of the Official Sega Saturn magazine. Richard Leadbetter would be proud. I should sell them to be honest. I don’t want them any more.
