Just stick the pants into the kettle and boil. Helps impart an earthy aroma to future cups of tea too. This is why you should never use hotel kettles. Or let Dr H make you a brew. |

If the hotel kettle passes the sniff test I'll usually use it, no point using it if you can't enjoy some ammonia when you're away.

Currently have a visiting student working in the lab who smells so bad it is stinking out the entire building. I can smell it in my office. She was starting to hum a bit towards the end of last week and rocked up on Monday morning even riper! Good lord...

Supposed to be flying to Corfu at 6am, and leaving for airport in 30 minutes. Whole family going. Obviously the island is now on fire and even if TUI don’t cancel the flights we’re not even going to bother to go to the airport. It doesn’t seem in any way worth the risk when we’re travelling with small children. But I just know some of the in-laws are going to try and get there. That’s mad, right?

Unless fire engulfs the villa I don’t think we’ll get any money back. If it looks completely safe then we may try and get some flights for a day or so but I think that is wishful thinking. I think brother in law and parents in law are still going and think we’re being stupid. It’s annoying as i think there is a good chance it would be fine, but it didn’t feel right at all. Especially at 3am.

Agreed. I'd do the same. A few years ago, one of the volcanos in the canary islanda erupted. Not the one my in laws were going to, but I'd still have had second thoughts if we were going.
Hopefully everyone comes back safe, is the main thing I suppose

Years ago we had a stinky new employee, one of the ladies in the office had a discreet chat with him, turned out he was really nervous starting work and hadn't really known he should be using deodorant. It's an HR issue so they should deal with it.

I used to think the common joke about your sex life dying after marriage was a actually just a joke, but after 8 years of marriage and now a baby it's quite worryingly not a joke. It's not her, it's not me, it's us. We're just always busy with baby, and when we're not just too knackered to want to do anything. Sometimes want to, but it's been so long it just kind of feels awkward now.

My advice is to make the time for each other. Start small, maybe a coffee for an hour then date nights. With no expectations that it will go further but to reconnect as a couple, not just parents. Then see what happens after a month or two.
