I assume the gameplay is nothing alike. It's just that they each held the crown as the game that everyone referred to as being bloody difficult.

This is probably one hell of a stretch on my part, but I notice that the official website for Hollow Knight: Silksong lists its platforms as PC (Steam/GOG/Humble), Switch, and Xbox Game Pass. Not Xbox, but Game Pass specifically.
My point, such as it is - is this normal practice for games that come out "normally" (in physical and/or digital versions), as well as coming to Game Pass at launch?
Alternatively, might it suggest that Silksong will only be available via Game Pass on day one, and won't be available as a standalone purchase for Xbox (again, physically and/or digitally) until a later date?
That's probably as clear as mud, but it's all I have.
P.S. Why yes, I am a PlayStation owner who's clutching at straws, hoping that Silksong will come to his platform of choice eventually (when it has a "normal" Xbox release, perhaps)! How the devil did you figure that out? You're a perspicacious bunch, and no mistake!

Pretty sure anything that is Game Pass is also available to buy. Never seen a situation where this isn't the case.

Yeah, everything on GamePass is available buy to own, and you save some coin if you have an active GP sub.
That said, not everything is available physically, if you were hoping to go that route.

Thanks, guys.
I guess there's still a degree of hope that Silksong will be digital-only for Xbox at launch, with a physical release further down the line... when it'll launch on PS5 as well, both physically and digitally!
That's what I'll tell myself, anyway.

A lot of games are digital only on Xbox, in part because Xbox owners tend to buy digital a lot more often, and in part because Microsoft has some stringent requirements for producing discs. I think even the first Hollow Knight, despite being a very successful game at that point, was never released on Xbox One physical.
Anyway, it's a small studio doing the game. I'd guess the plan was to hit just Switch and PC at launch because they were the best selling platforms for the original game, and then MS arrived and offered them money (and probably manpower too) to also bring it to Game Pass day one. Chances are the devs will start working to port it on the PS4/PS5 as soon as the game is done. No way a game like this skips any big platform.

I actually noticed that quite a few games that released physically on PS4 didn't come to Xbox in disc form - Dead Cells is another example, if memory serves - but I had no idea why. Thanks for the explanation! That's what I told myself about Starfield and The Elder Scrolls VI, once upon a time
Okay, I admit it's unlikely, but I'm not going to count my chickens re Silksong until a formal announcement is made, just in case MS are eyeing up another acquisition!

Just a heads up that the Shadowrun games all drop tomorrow. All 3 are excellent and well worth a play, with the 2nd being a particular standout.

The remakes are buggy and have horrific tech issues (on Xbox) which is weird because they look like they should run on a calculator.

I lost 2 hours on Shadowrun yesterday. Turns out 2 things are shit.
It doesn't autosave (despite splashing on screen that it does)
It is prone to crashing and freezing.

It's a shame they have issues on xbox. I don't think I had any stability issues on PC, though some of the combat sections are very long, and I did forget to save at times and then kick myself when I died and had to replay the entire thing again.
I had to stop half way through Shadowrun 2, despite enjoying it a lot, because using a mouse all day for work was screwing up my arm/shoulder and playing mouse games was a no-no. I keep meaning to check if it works ok with a pad.
PS/ The general recommendation was to skip #1 and go straight to #2, which is what I did.

Buyer beware - BT Broadband / BT TV offers for Game Pass Ultimate
This may be a bit niche, but my mate's having an issue with a Game Pass offer that's worth flagging here, in case anyone else goes down the same route
He already had a GP Ultimate subscription until Feb 2024, and got a code for 1 year of Ultimate when he signed up for BT Fibre Broadband. Thinking that the new one would stack onto the old one (with some encouragement on my part), he entered the code into the portal provided by BT (*not* into the Xbox website, which might be relevant). But what's it's actually done is cancel his existing sub (marked as "Completed) and create a whole new one which only goes up to June 2023.
MS Support are on it, and say they're fixing it, but it's taking a while. I guess the advice is if you're adding a code you got from BT, consider waiting until your current sub runs out, or try entering it on the Xbox website rather than BT's own website.

I got one of those and figured it was going to do something similar when BT sent me the shite about it. I didn't use it, and am glad I didn't now!

As well as being on Game Pass, Tell Me Why is also on sale for the excellent price of £0.

It's that time again! My GP runs out today. Planning to stack a couple years cheap Gold...when I find it...and convert. Still good right??

I think the $£€1 GPU deal is going on for a couple more days too, so yours lapsed at the perfect time.

Last Stop is leaving game pass soon. I do recommend it if you haven’t played it. I found it a pleasant recreation of London life with good acting. It’s not too long, you could plough through it quite quickly. Give it a go if you fancy something light.

Managed to use the Xbox Live Gold conversion trick plus the 3 months for £1 Gamepass offer that's on now (expiring tonight I believe) to get 15 months of GP for just under £18. Just FYI for anyone else that wants to use it, seems like Eneba has the cheapest XBL codes (I got 3 month codes for under £6), and every time you redeem one code you get an extra month if you turn on recurring billing (which you can then turn off and use the same trick again for another code).
Could have added more months using the same process, but I've already got more than enough stuff to play between the three consoles, so that should be enough for now.

I have a single month offer from the Acer laptop I bought, and thought about saving it up for the conversion trick, but now I'm worried that it might actually delete my Gold subscription and replace it with just one month of GPU...

I was glad some mentioned the £1 offer. I managed to top up 2 years Gold with it meaning I got 27 months of Ultimate for approx £2.77 a month. I reckon that's a deal.

“Fraudsters” is a bit much, I’m sure I saw a quote from a MS employee when the Gold —> Game Pass “trick” was first discovered saying it was legit. They had conversion tables and all sorts. Is there anything in the terms saying you can’t do it?

malek86 you’ll probably be fine, it sounds like the issue my mate had was because the subscription gets created from within the BT Account. Adding a code via Xbox should (?) still work

It's pretty vaguely worded. I'm assuming if you haven't been notified by now you wouldn't need to worry?
