If you could buy an M4 in Asda this country would be just as bad for mass shootings as murika. Finally something that would make me want to shop in Asda.

Pure coincidence then that these people are finding a way much more frequently and easily in the USA than anywhere else on the planet. Pretty much 100% of the time with those things that fire bullets. Just trying to keep an open-minded discussion. My point is that firearms aren't a singular cause, to be viewed in isolation. It could be that the US is producing more disgruntled, disillusioned citizens than any other country, and firearms are compounding this issue. It ain't exactly the most socialist country in the world. As I said, banning firearms would obviously reduce the problem and make it harder for mass killings to occur, and it's an obvious first step, but it wouldn't solve the clear underlying issue that's driving these people to carry out mass killings in the first place, who may turn to bombs or other means if firearms become hard to obtain. You can't stop people suddenly deciding to kill other people. It doesn't matter how many cases get diagnosed and how many individuals recieve treatment. The issue is the fact they can wander into a shop, buy an assault rifle and gun people down as easily as I can nip down to the spar and buy a pot noodle. It's this factor that results in the volume of mass killings, and this factor alone. The number would be nothing like this were it not for the ready availability of firearms.

I don't know, having proper gun control laws seemed to work well for Britain and Australia. People are always going to do bad things we shouldn't not try just because people will use other means, it's the easiest thing that could be done.

They all want to own a gun. I say let them. In fact, make sure each household is given a gun per head absolutely free. That will satisfy their need to own one. The twist, is that you make buying or owning bullets illegal. Reminds me of the Chris Rock stand up proposing to enforce bullet control so that they cost $5000. "When you see a shooting you'll think damn he MUST have done something!"

Yeah we haven't had a school shooting since Dunblane, that's over 25 years ago. We immediately banned handguns afterwards, because we made the right diagnosis of the problem. That guy was only able to do what he did because he had a gun. I'm sure loads of people since have had the same impulse, but they couldn't act on it. It really is simple.

This happened a few hours up the road. My daughter is the same age as the dead kids. When I drop her off at school I airways see the armed SRO helping the car line. I’ll often see pro gun stickers in car windows. The governor is pushing to allow 18 year olds to concealed carry guns without a permit of any sort.
I just can’t muster the energy anymore. I know my daughter will have questions when I see her next. I know she will be angry. She’s blossoming into quite the informed revolutionary, which I’m immensely proud of. I worry for her.
You just can’t think about the danger. There’s nothing to be done.

In that interview he mentions that there is a right to vote, but that doesn't mean there is no voter registration or rules about who can vote and how.
I assume it's been tried, but can't they just put a massive tax on guns and ammo, like we do with cigarettes?

They can, but that's still an infringement of the 2nd amendment - uncontrolled guns or GTFO!

It seems like, in a sane world, putting a tax on guns and ammo wouldn't be a breach of the 237th amendment. sane... world..

Every country will have its share of loners with a grudge against society. The difference is America allows those people to buy things that are designed to burst people's heads in the local poundstretcher.

America has a toxic gun culture. Guns are seen as a physical embodiment of what makes America - and by extension those Americans with guns - so gosh darned exceptional.
Couple that with a society that squeezes people from every angle, has very little in the way of effective release valves beyond fantasies that are based on physical dominance - be it broadcast sports or movies/tv/music - and a masculine culture where physicality is lauded over emotional and intellectual prowess, throw in a steady decline of the nation itself, the supremacy of these entities white men and you have a perfect recipe for guns being the answer to any argument, disagreement or need to lash out at the unfairness and brutality of society
Of ya know, it’s the trannies

There's an article on the BBC where I read that out of the 48,000 of people that died to gun related deaths in 2021 in the US, over half were suicide.
Jesus christ.
Also, there is quite a disturbing video going round that shows 2 bodycam videos. Each one is from one of the nashville cops entering the schoold and neutralising the target. It's a bit more explicit than the ones in standard media, but fuck me, it was terrifying to watch. Have to say that it was brutally efficient.
What a world.

I was also surprised to see video of both how it started and ended only a day later. They can’t show a nipple on tv though, that would anger their god.

Vieogamey bodycam footage from a real school shooting - fine
Statue of David - not fine
How that country gets out of bed every morning astounds me.

Guns are god's will, nudity is not.
It says so in the Bible.

I can't watch anything like that. Sod that. Aye, I've never understood the appeal of these kind of videos. Not something I'd ever choose to watch. Would've gladly avoided the snuff videos that were doing the rounds in uni if some dickhead hadn't made me turn around while he was watching it.

I haven't watched it. I don't see the attraction, tbh.
They've obviously released it in part to show how much more effective the Police were than in Ulvade, but not sure why the average citizen needs to see the killshot.
America is just weird.
