Figured that, since we all seem to be persons of a certain age and it's therefore finger up the bum time, a little thread like this was in order
I was diagnosed with athsma today, which is weird at 40, but makes a lot of sense given how my breathing has been (failing). Any tips on dealing with it? Ive read the usual stuff but it's always pretty general, so keen to hear about the day to day stuff to look out for/alleviate/prevent

I banged my toe pretty hard months ago. Couldn't walk on it for about a day but then soldiered on assuming it was a sprain or something. Months later, though better, it still hurts to poke it. My thinking is I probably broke it and it's healed back funny
This should probably be in the crazy story thread

Maybe ask a doctor, I know that sounds ker-razy.*
*Nah truly, it took 2 months of wheezing through the night before I made an appointment.

I only have 50% odd capacity and can still cycle london to brighton etc. I do find being fit helps as well. But mostly don't stress, stress makes it worse always Oh, and something they never tell you, heartburn causes asthma. Acid reflux bounces back down lungs etc. If you find yourself a bit tight chested a Rennies always helps me. I was diagnosed age 8, and honestly my asthma is best it has been in 35 years now, and that is down to fitness.

Good to know, i've been getting heartburn in the last few months but never ever had it before, some really savage episodes that take half a blister of rennie to calm.

I find the liquid works a lot better than the blisters.

If the diagnosis was asthma you've really got to question why the doctor had their finger up your bum at all.

I never said it wasn't a good time. Just disappointing news at the end
