Have the reigning continental champions from any region ever failed to qualify before? Maybe Denmark in '94? Only one I can think of, but I could be wrong. |

Australia is doing their best at qualifying the hard way. 2-0 loss to Japan means we have to go into a play off against another Asian qualifier and then I think if they get past that there is another play off against a South American qualifier.
Not really our best team in many years so wouldn't be surprised to not make it.

Talking of the above, did Southgate seriously say (or at least imply) that Bellingham is not getting more minutes because the Bundesliga is markedly inferior to the Premier League, and also because (second in the table) Dortmund are too inconsistent (as are half the Premier League clubs he's picked players from)?
