It’s not really inconsistent because shirt pulling is clearly defined as a foul in the rules. Holding however isn’t so that comes down to interpretation.

That said the vast majority of shirt pulling doesn’t get a whistle.

Going to have to make do with a measly 4 goal lead.

Didn't expect a 6-2 in the first group game tbh!

Don't underplay the poor defensive performance given the lack of possession and threat that Iran generally carried.
Lots to be excited about for you English people but I'd be plenty worried about the defence myself for when you come up against real opposition.

I honestly think that Bellingham performance is one of the best I've ever seen from an English midfielder. Just made it look so easy. Won tackles, always available, instant control, slipped through balls in behind, kept it simple most of the time, and scored a great header.
Essentially he didn't look English.

I agree BUT this is what happens when you go 4-0 up, you get complacent. Seen it loads of times. It's still worrying cause you should remain focused.

Bellingham is so much better off in Germany. If he comes to England it’s just a matter of time before he gets torn down.

Wales match will be a decent barometer for how well we'll do on Friday. Can't wait to watch with a bunch of expats in an expat bar, it really is something wonderful to behold.

Nice after an opening game not to want more from the team and did what you expect them to do.

The defending for the Rashford goal was hilarious. Allowed him to go inside completely free. Looked like Sunday league level.

For the record, that was great but under no illusions. The US game, and especially the Wales game are eminently losable. Especially if we go into the last one thinking a draw will do.

We’d get Bellingham at a snip for £400M. City will no doubt stick a bid in though and get him for £30M…

Depay or De Jong must be injured. Depay did not play a single minute for Barcelona this season, so he's not starting. Vincent Janssen is on a good streak in Belgium though.
But yeah, De Jong (Luuk not Frenkie) would have been my choice.
EDIT: Oh, and the goalie is debuting today (actually his first time in the national squad)

That’s a very good point, he seems to have a technical ability missing in most English midfielders. Germany has definitely been good for him

Yes, was valuable for England to get some points on the board. Especially before Spurs’ alumnus and current Celtic colossus Cameron Carter-Vickers smashes the whole English team to smithereens and guides the USMNT to a convincing victory. ./USAUSAUSA

That’s some dip in quality for a Dutch team in a major tournament. The players they used to have must be wondering what’s happened…

Do you think Cruyff, Gullit and co were expecting to be picked?

Is Daley Blind really playing left wing back? Van Gaal will literally do anything to play 5 at the back.

Do you think Cruyff, Gullit and co were expecting to be picked? I think David’s, seedorf, overmars, Robben, van Persie, the de boers, kluivert, bergkamp etc. would still stand a better chance than this lot. They are only in their 40s and 50s 😊

Yep. The rugby tackle on Maguire was so much worse. Weird. If be did the same on the streets of Qatar, the would have arrested him.

For some reason I thought he was older than 32! Though in saying that he was never the quickest.

The Dutch speak better English than most English people.
Lived there for a few years and never met one that didn't speak near perfect English.
