I’ve currently just got the PSVR but seriously considering getting on Oculus Quest 2.
Are the visuals a huge step up from PSVR? I’ve not hooked mine up to the PS5 yet but will do soon to check out the enhanced games.. PSVR2 is a way off yet so tempted by OQ2.

The optics/display, tracking, and controllers should all be enough to make it feel better. Not much computational power though, so it depends on what you mean by 'visuals'.

If you hook it up to pc the visuals are miles better, as a standalone it's worse than psvr.

Being free from a camera and accurate controls would be quite a boost.

Doesn't it require Facebook integration these days?

Best thing about the Quest 2 is how well it works wirelessly. Using a combination of AirLink and the app Virtual Desktop you never have to worry about cables for high end PC gaming, or when using VR art tools.
The standalone aspect also makes it feel a bit like a Switch for VR games. You end up being ok with a cut in visual quality on some games if it means you can play something like Beat Saber in any room where you can find space instead of being stuck in front of the PC/TV.

I realise I could find this out quite easily myself, but does anyone remember if the stuff in Playroom VR (specifically that monster one) requires a Dualshock 4? I have one Dualshock 4 and loads of Dualsenses so am worried I might be a bit stuck for multiplayer.

In terms of comfort it’s a huge step down from psvr though. The screen will be sharper, but kudos if you can wear it for more than an hour.

Ok, I'm probably going mad, but I'm sure one of you lot can help.
I fired up polybius last night on my ps5 to show it to a mate in VR. VR set all works fine etc but when you're at the title screen and put it into VR mode, it tries to, but the screen just goes black. If you put the headset on you just get that image of the controller, and it's telling you to press the options button to centre the image.
But it doesn't accept the button presses, so you can't proceed and put it into vr mode.
I am fucking sure I had this working on a ds5 controller, but now I'm not so sure. Anyone else got it working on a ps5 + ds5 + psvr? I then put thumper on to check, and that worked absolutely fine, so fuck knows what's up with polybius.

I don't have a PS5, but I do remember the uproar when it was announced that you'd need a DS4 to continue using PSVR, even on the PS5 console. No idea why Thumper worked given that's the case - is it possible you were drunk?

It's more than a possibility for sure Yeah, I remember people complaining about it, but I thought it was the other way round - i.e., you'd have to use the ds5 instead of the ds4, but I've obviously got that back to front as well! Yeah, it's a bit odd about Thumper just working straight off the bad though. I'll google the steps to connect a ds4 pad and then fully test it later. Sober

I'm not quite sure what the complaint would be about having to use a PS5 controller on a PS5?! :-D I wonder if it's linked to the features a game/app uses? Perhaps Thumper uses features that work as-is on both controllers, but other games make use of particular things (tilt, specific vibrations, glide pad, etc. etc). Maybe it's the nature of the colour bar on the DS5 for tracking, and Thumper doesn't do any tracking? But I'm just spitballing at this point.

It may be that game needing the ds4 light to work, or just some bit of code not changed.

All sounds plausible, but that controller image where it's beckoning you do press the options button seems a sort of "standard" vr message - I remember seeing it a lot in early VR days when it had drifted off or whatever, so I'd expect to see it all the time anyway.
I'll report back!

Anything that contains any sort of controller tracking requires a DS4. Anything without a DS5 will work.
