A long time ago, there Was a thread detailing the highest/lowest scores gainned on the comment section. Feel free to add your greatest successes/failures.Or dont. I thought a comment about how I loved armored core in the elden ring article, would go down well. Alas not.

Say "I dunno, looks the same to me!" on any DF article and the pixel counters will be up in arms.

Some woman wrote that Geralt of Rivia is disabled, and that the games should do more to reflect that. She also said that she had written to the creators of the Netflix show and offered her services to make Geralt better, but they hadn't gotten back to her.
The writer herself had some minor disability and was looking for some representation.
My comment wasn't even that poorly received. It got about as many upvotes as downvotes, but i politely suggested that Geralt would not be rendered more interesting by making it more obvious he suffered from some chronic pain and that the lady should get over herself.

I don’t know, it could have added an extra layer of character if he had a lazy eye.

I found the article. www.eurogamer.net/articles/2020-11-24-geralt-of-rivia-a-disabled-protagonistMy comment: 13 upvotes 14 downvotes Geralt is disabled... in the most mild way imaginable. Stunning insight. With the ability to point out that Mad Max wore a leg brace, it's really hard to imagine that any company would not jump at the chance to use your services. Don't get me wrong, this whole Covid thing ended up closing my dentist when i had root canal treatment scheduled in March, so i do understand a little something about chronic pain. The three months i had to endure were awful... but at the same time i had an aunt who had meningitis as a child and suffered from extreme complications. Essentially she lived most of her life as a vegetable. That's probably not the most sensitive way to put it. Any time i'd go to visit my grandad as a kid, she'd be there, lying on her bed in the living room, making sounds. And then one day, ten year old me visited and she wasn't there anymore. We never discussed it as a family, and i have little doubt i'm emotionally stunted due to my upbringing... but when that's your experience of disability, it's hard to really get on board with something like this. If Geralt were to go and get a form from the Rivia council office, his disability would be 'Witcher'. And the games do a good job of showing the toll that takes on a person. Mentally and physically. It's impossible to look at any of the scenes in which Geralt is not wearing a shirt, and not imagine he is in some kind of pain. He doesn't need the ability to predict a cold snap off the back of his knee hurting a little bit more that day. And we can just assume that Geralt's potion tolerance bar is a little lower than Eskel's. This probably comes across as terse, but the author's sense of entitlement is really bothersome. 'I debunked that', 'i offered my services and haven't been welcomed with open arms yet'.

I can just see Gerald nipping down to the Rivia council office to pick up his giro.

I down voted a staff comment and got banned (or GI'D) from the site, despite a near perfect commenting history with positive up-votes. I'm still a bit bitter about it, bunch of snowflakes.
Still, the forum was nuked shortly after (has it even happened yet?) so feel somewhat better about it.
I'm glad this place started, the guys here are the thing I missed most. I never visit EG anymore.

From a cursory examination, it looks like most Eurogamer articles, even the infrequent reviews get less than 20 comments. Even for an unusually high traffic article where every commenter down votes you you'd struggle to break -50.
I had no idea that Eurogamer had so thoroughly died, there are probably tiny Youtube channels with more traffic.

I got -10 so far (from today or yesterday) for commenting how Blasphemous announcing another expansion after complaining that the latest physical (the 3rd release that I am aware of) was complete and there would be no more DLC was a bit misleading. I even acknowledged that is being free was a good point but they could have held off the final physical release for it if they had it planned.
I am sure I have been more heavily negged for stuff in the past but not sure the easiest way to check...

I enjoyed this comment from that review. A review about a Mario game.
"No Syrette, that's not why some Wii U owners are sitting around smugly.
They've endured a year of XBox and PS fans tell them for the last year their console is doomed, it has no games and that this Christmas, Sony and Microsoft were going to destroy Nintendo's credibility forever and force it to withdraw from the console market.
Not only has the Wii U had plenty of 7+ games over the last year, and a variety of them, but it's also had plenty of 9's and 10's and this Christmas, Nintendo pulled this little gem out the bag. And now Sony and Microsoft fans are trying to undermine that with "Oh, it's same old Mario!"
In the same way their own arguments are, frankly, same old bullshit. You can't help for Nintendo owners to feel positive at the prospect of the next few months with Smash Bros. and Mario Kart 8, and possibly Bayonetta 2 and another look at X (and possibly even a proper Zelda reveal at E3!). They've got content on their side. Yes, it's taken a year - but hell, Sony and Microsoft were meant to DESTROY Nintendo, remember? Oh wait, no, the console wars are a hair-brained brand war instigated by a self-perpetuating cycle of blind stupidity that sees rivals as enemies. And it's not even shared by the people running the companies either!
XBox and PS people have been kicking Wii U owners for a year - it's seven years old, it doesn't have the ability to do dynamic lightning, it has no games, Nintendo is for children (and there are some comments I'm not even going to dignify with repeating). Anyone who says they like their Wii U generally has been mocked by them. It has been bullying, let's not pretty it up. And it's been pretty disgusting.
You may find it hard to accept, but some prefer their revenge served straight up. I may not agree with the way they're doing it, but you know, they've put up with so much rubbish that perhaps there is a point they can feel either vindicated and/or like they suddenly have an upper hand? When given that kind of power and/or position, it can be a little... well, there's such a thing as a bad winner.
Or perhaps eventually someone will stand up and say that every act of retaliation is a transgression, and each transgression inspires retaliation? And we can stop this.
Until then, this is a little karma to which many will take great pleasure in. You'd think people would learn that this kind of crap is a self-perpetuating cycle...
But this is the Internet. I may be giving some people a little too much credit..."

I think I got over 200 for a comment in an article about a guy winning a bud for thousands of pounds for a collection of every video game ever or something. I said he only actually wanted Panzer Dragoon Saga.
Been trying to recapture that moment ever since and have failed.
