On the plus side at least you chose dogs for your blanketed irrational hatred. Life would have been much worse for you if you had chosen women or black people.

My main peeve with dog owners is their lack of understanding of how easily little kids are terrified of them, especially when they jump up at them. It can be genuinely traumatic even with a friendly dog.

Birds as pets are fucking rubbish and to deny something that can fly the ability to do that seems fucking cruel to me. This is where I sit with most pets tbh. I’m comfortable with cats as they seem to get more or less exactly the life they’d want anyway, but generally it seems a bit selfish to restrict the freedom of animals for our own fun. Although that thinking does quickly lead to hypocrisies with eating meat etc.

It's either talk about dogs, or contemplate the fact that Suella is probably going to go way overboard in protecting the right of armed police officers to shoot people without consequences, and we'll probably have Judges patrolling the streets before long.

Her considering deploying armed squaddies is fucking mental.
I hope Sir Robert Peel rises from his grave and strangles her.

Birds as pets are fucking rubbish and to deny something that can fly the ability to do that seems fucking cruel to me. Whether I'm a hypocrite or can claim to have just learned from the experience, I used to keep birds and this is absolutely correct. We did everything you're "supposed" to do; kept them in pairs in a big cage, good diet, and gave them the opportunity to leave and fly every day. But even then the lived experience clearly fucked them up and they wouldn't leave the safety of the cage of their own accord for love nor money. It didn't take me long to realise that a bird being locked in a cage for 23.5 hours of the day and then apparently not even wanting to leave when given the chance is so unnatural. We gave them as good a life as any pet birds, but I honestly just feel shame and sadness when I think back on it. They lived for about 12 years in that cage, in the same spot in our living room. Ugh. Anyway random hijack over

You probably could against a small one, but one of these huge ones that are attacking people?
Three grown men couldn't fight off the one that killed the guy the other week.
So unless you've been really focussing on your study of the blade, I'm guessing not.
Exactly, its why those monstrosities are my most unfavourite. I've pegged my abilities at collie or lower. Maybe a labrador but I reckon I could get a yorkie over a fence in one hit. Can confirm - even a casual run knocked a Yorkie back. A proper kick and the little cunt finds itself living in a new postcode. PO BOX PAIN

The Met has 2,500 firearms officers?? Anyway, seems the army is stood down for now. I'm sure their training would have been just right for domestic policing situations though. www.bbc.com/news/uk-66909729

That seems like a lot? Perhaps that's the ones trained, rather than those on active duty. If there are 2500 in the Met (not disagreeing, have no idea), maybe 300 handing in their guns might not have been the massive issue it was made out to be and perhaps the army weren't actually needed?
But no. Surely Suella and co wouldn't play up for the media?
Perhaps it's related to the recent public opinion after scandals about how the Met polices itself, but it seems likely that an incredibly high evidentiary standard has been met for charges to have been brought in this instance, given how rare that has been in the past. You'd like to think so and the CPS isn't just reacting to recent events.
That isn't to say he's guilty, but there must be something that's outside the normal training and so on.

It's not thousands of officers running around with carbines Stand to be corrected though.

I saw someone on the news saying 'what we dont want is officers worrying if they are going to be tried for murder every time they respond to an incident'. It feels like if we give someone a lethal weapon thats actually exactly what we want.

The Met has a Special Firearms command thing, but the UK wide guards for the Parliamentary estate, diplomats and the Royals are all part of the Met, as is Counter Terrorism for the whole UK. The Met is weird and probably ought to be broken up to make the "London policing" bits answerable to the Mayor only and the "UK policing" answerable to the Home Secretary. Rather than muddling through with both.

Police officers themselves I don't think have any more or fewer privileges than you or me. They can only use use reasonable level of violence against a credible threat.
Police as an institution does have higher requirements through the human rights act and the right to life. So unlike in the US... police can't just charge in if just waiting somebody out would work too.
