We had our languages lessons in them and were specifically cited as one of the reasons for our schools poor performance in that subject. They were absolutely rank. The heaters didnt work and when they did, they stank, you could put your foot through the floor in the french room and they just generally stank.
'The Terrapins', temporary classrooms for the entire five years I was there.

It's completely laughable that she even said that. Feels like she just wants the boot now.

Can't imagine many car manufacturers will be putting much effort into designing ICE cars for much longer even with a 2035 deadline, current models will get some updates to refresh the lines but there's no point spending money on something with very little future. Production will be slowly wound down and switched to EVs well before the deadline. Ford seem pretty pissed at the tip of the iceberg:

So Labour are going to come out and say how ridiculous this is right?

An odd comment from one usually so well placed - though with public opinion seemingly only going one way, perhaps sooner rather than later would protect more seats? I don't see it.

I can see an earlier election than we might expect. Most peg it at the back end of next year but I can see one in Spring as Rishi just gives up trying to spin this and fucks off to his billions.

"Gives up trying" rather suggests he's been trying so far.

I can't see much reason for a snap election, now or anytime soon, unless they are expecting things to economically get worse. The summer was an absolute disaster for the government with seemingly neverending calamities constantly erupting right in the middle of them trying to look in control and making policy announcements with their themed weeks. The polls didn't budge.
It feels like they have reached the bottom and almost nothing will make the polls get worse than they already are. We had over a week of papers telling us that school roofs were going to collapse on children's heads, but we still sticked at about Labour ahead by 20%.
If the Tories aren't looking like they are going to gain any ground and they aren't looking like they are going to lose any, why bother doing an election? Might as well just let it all plough on for as long as is possible.
I fully expect there to be no election for at least a year, maybe not even until the absolute limit of January 2025. The only way I don't see that happening is if they see a strong(er) economy at some point and they want to take the opportunity of things being not too bad or Sunak just gets bored.

At this point, witholding an election is just abusive. Like a husband deliberately draining a bank account before he leaves his wife. Its absolutely spiteful.
They all know they are finished, nothing is getting done and a changing of the guard would reinvigorate the economy but they just will not fuck off.

They haven’t all had a go at being in the cabinet yet, another reshuffle should do it for them

Yeah, a few more of them are due that fat payout for being the supply education minister for a few weeks.

It's so pointless, the only direction the polls are going to go is down, they're in a death spiral and everyone knows it.

Hilarious to see Sunak getting ready to make an announcement that he is on the side of cars and all the car manufacturers shouting "what the fuck are you doing??!!"

He doesn't give a shit about the car industry. He's on the side of Alan who's bought a fossil fuel Audi that's too thick to realise he'll be buying a new car anyway but the time the policy of phasing out ICE's would be impacting him.

Poor Alan, he only bought a 3.0 diesel V6 Audi Q7 because the government told him it to, now he can’t afford to drive into London anymore

The paid for, fossil fuel brain worms have got to the elderly conservatives, though. They did a good job.
I’m getting an EV next year. Every Tory I know who has heard that has immediately launched into a PowerPoint presentation about range and how they aren’t as good for the environment as I think they are.

Nigel has texted the BBC to say it’s a good idea, because if 50% of cars are electric by 2030 the infrastructure couldn’t support it

This is utterly mental. In about half an hour Sunak is meant to be announcing a policy that almost everyone including half of his own party have spent the entire day saying is wrong.
Every time he opens his mouth he to manages to make things worse for the party and the country. Unbelievably weak.

Has someone done a bunker scene from Downfall for Sunak yet? I guess you'd have to update it weekly if you did

Every Tory I know who has heard that has immediately launched into a PowerPoint presentation about range and how they aren’t as good for the environment as I think they are. Just ordered one myself which should be here before the end of the year. Had to endure this exact powerpoint rant from my right wing, sun reading, brexit supporting brother. He is also a mechanic, so really hates EVs. Made the extra cost of purchasing an EV well worth it to see the vein pulsing in his forehead

I think he’s going to surprise us all by using the conference to show us his Royal Oak tourbillon extra thin that he’s been trying to kop for the last 3 years, swag!

And a kicking from The Speaker for good measure:
In a strongly worded statement, it says plans to announce changes to green policy should be made in the House of Commons - rather than a news conference.
A spokeswoman for Hoyle's office says it is "not the way to do business" and that "ministers are answerable to MPs – we do not have a presidential system here".

I honestly can't see them calling an election until they absolutely have to. They're going to need all the time they have left to line their own pockets and introduce policies that absolutely fuck over the incoming government.
If you're going to lose spectacularly, you may as well make sure you and your backers make a few bob on the way out, salting the earth as you go.
