Why throw the officers to the wolves if they did nothing wrong? Well yes, that is the question everyone in the job is asking too. Ultimately it's because Met management believe a referral shows a willingness for transparency, but in reality it's taken by the general public to mean the officers must have done something wrong, as evidenced by your post. In terms of the footage, the Met has taken a general decision to not release BWV until conclusion of any investigation. A decision that pretty much all officers disagree with, as again it makes it look like we're hiding something.

It must be partially a bit of a knee jerk in opposite direction to cases where police police themselves badly. So it's a bit of extra review to show these things are taken seriously. But agree it does immediately look like a case has merit. And of course if nothing is found wrong it again underlines excesses of police etc. It's really hard to overcome trust issues.

Meanwhile, Sunak appears to have given up pretending to be a Prime Minister.

It's done in his name so he's responsible for it even if it's not him tapping away on a keyboard.

No but you see the tories only have majority of 70 seats, how can you possibly do anything with such a slim majority and the secret labour government controlling everything?

It's the same thing as Biden being both a criminal mastermind and a doddering fool. It's absolute bargain basement meant to appeal the lowest o lowest common denominators. Fucking embarrassing.

I'd love to know how much he's made from these scams.
Keep pulling the sweater.
Eventually the whole thing will unravel.

Aaron Bastani attacked in the street today for being a left wing journalist. Totally normal.
Aaaron in my experience is fairly balanced and nuanced in his views.
It's like watching Fascism unfold before my eyes.
You remember the question, 'how did the Germans let it get to this?'
Remember 'it couldn't happen here?'
Well, this.
I think I'll go back to a few pages ago, and say this country is fucked. There will be another Financial crisis and we'll all be at war within 10 years.
I'm over 40, should be safe from conscription, but Russia have introduced it for the over 60's. It will be like the charge of the Zimmer brigade as we see the slowest, most decrepit battle in human history.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-66307353This story is getting so ridiculous. Now have the NatWest boss needing to apologise for responding to a BBC journalist's questions on Farage's account closure by telling them to look at their website for their T&Cs. Can't these people stop pandering to the prick?

The irritating thing is that it's such a non-story but if the Mail (blorp) is reporting it then the Beeb somehow feels a need to run it too.
Contrast that with the Dan Wootton* stuff in the right wing press. Non existent.

Oh ffs now she's under pressure to resign from the government.
Stop giving Farage airtime, you fucking morons. He isn't an MP, he doesn't represent anyone. The grift is over.
Honestly, the BBC really do add fuel to their own fire.

*Although the Daily Mail getting warlike about it must make it a loss

It's annoying to see Farage get airtime but utilities don't get to deny customers due their political leanings.
The banks all need to eat shit on that practice. Corporations blow which ever way the popular narrative takes them for the PR but I'm sure there's a tonne of dodgy Saudi and Russian money sitting in accounts that's far too valuable to investigate.

No, utilities don't get to do that. But banks do, and you can fuck off to Natwest if you're a PEP and a reputational risk. And even then if you suddenly get a load of money from an unexplained and suspicious source then expect it to be frozen (it probably won't be frozen, but it should be and a report should be filed under AML regulations)

I just signed up to a bank in Japan, and they had a section on PEPs where I had to agree that I wasn't one. So it's not a UK only thing.
It's ridiculous how much airtime the Farage thing seems to be getting, just because he's famous. Which kinda highlights that PEPs can be a big reputational risk. QED.
I do think it's shit that banks can just close random customers accounts at short notice and without telling them why... but that's been going on for decades for thousands of people and the media never gave that any coverage.

Resigned NatWest boss Dame Alison Rose quits after row over Nigel Farage account www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-66309080The whole thing reminds me of Chris Morris’ Ted Maul character: “… dancing to the beat of primitive animal justice. Scarred forever by a shared blood ritual, And yet an astonishing sense of community here now. A positive atmosphere. A sense of a job well done. A shared sigh of relief, very much like the bizarre euphoria at the end of an hour’s vomiting.”

‘Client confidentiality is the core issue’ behind Alison Rose’s departure.
Yep, specifically rich corrupt tax dodgers worried that Natwest booting Farage will set a precedent and banks might drop them next. It’s amazing how quickly the Government can move when those that pay them ask them to do something.
Utter shower. So much for women in top jobs.

It's all so infuriating as with everything else at the moment. The banks don't just go around dropping customers because they don't like them. It's because they don't want to be exposed to money laundering, terrorist financing etc. Or you break their terms and conditions.
But no, grifter Farage is special and must be treated as fucking royalty.

I often have issues getting bank accounts for my main business, as it's owned by another business (owned by us), due to a historical buyout. A lot of the new challenger banks eg Starling won't touch it. Which is ironic as we do their lanyards....
A lot of Farage's income is probably small untraceable donations. Doesn't look good.
