My uncle worked between Hong Kong and Singapore. He said for all their faults, they get shit done. There's no fannying around. They work out a solution to a problem and do it.
It just means that it gets done, regardless. Read into that what you will.

Johnny Mercer's mum (sorry, wife) will be writing more angry letters to the Telegraph if he doesn't get it.

All these MPs quitting and citing "the toll it has taken on my family" while resolutely ignoring the toll they've taken on literally everyone else's family for thirteen fucking years. How curious.

This is bizarrely effective. Labour haven't protected you from the excesses of this government, so how effective can they be? It's such a weird narrative, but it could work. Labour offer nothing, so stick with what you know.

I don't get why Labour aren't making more of nonsense like that. Surely it can't be seen as too controversial to say something along the lines of "Of course we've met with JSO. There's nothing secret about it. The majority of people say they agree with JSO's message but not their tactics. The government may be childishly refusing to engage with them, happy to condemn but to weak to actually do anything resolve the issues, but Labour are adults and will talk to people..." etc etc.
Getting more and more frustrated with Starmer's Labour every day. But there is no alternative until he tables PR.

Their Comms is absolutely awful. See also the 2 child benefit cap. Just say that of course it will be looked at in the round with other spending commitments and that the Govt have trashed the economy etc.

Same with 'they are in the pocket of the unions'. They just keep taking that one on the chin rather than punching back with 'better than being in the pockets of petrochemical/construction/russians'.
Oh no. Organisations that have a primary function of looking after the working man are donating to LABOUR. Somebody call the president.

Yeah. It it needs is "we have spoken to JSO about their tactics and we respect the right to protest, which we will uphold but we also want to make sure that their methods don't impact the message".
Blair would have had this lot of Tories on toast.

Labours communication has been shit for more than a decade. All the shit about they caused the financial crash.
It's absolute bullshit whereas in fact the opposite is more true, Brown did pretty much everything to ensure it didn't bring down the entire world.

A lefty friend of mine who thinks Corbyn can do no wrong, blamed the media and newspapers for his not winning the next election.
I didn't point out the numerous open goals he gave them. Even something as simple as respecting the queen or the flag. Yes, he may have principles and those are fine but FFS mate play the game and read the room.

I have given them the benefit of the doubt over the last few years and assumed their strategy is just to give the tories enough rope to hang themselves but it does seem that their messaging is actually just rubbish.

I think he's afraid of being expansive because he doesn't know how left wing he can afford to be and still win, and on some issues the effect is he seems weak.
