Lammy is very switched on, his months of ground work got Starmer the D Day invite Totally. This work alone has probably escalated his power in government massively. A real stroke of genius. Kind of funny seeing the reporting of this being surprised about all the formerly Shadow cabinet members being shifted over to the same brief in the government cabinet. After years of insane reshuffles, everyone is shocked when people who have actually already been working in the field are appointed. Media is going to be even more surprised in a year's time when all of these posts are still occupied by the same people. It's very weird but we probably have a bunch of journalists with like 10 years experience who genuinely don't remember it any other way. Government being run properly and not via plots/leaks/reshuffles/scandals but through wonkish policy briefings. It's possible nobody ever actually trained them how to report on that properly.

Must admit I’m puzzled by some of the inner city Labour losses over Gaza.
Is it because Muslims really love fishing rods and chickens?

Oh no, Reform have 5 seats now after taking South Basildon, it was Tory but it was close between them and Labour.
What a horrible after taste to the election.

Bollocks That’s got to be worth another two or three hours of airtime per day for Farage

I guess it's very a much a protest vote but also very single issue voting that does some mental gymnastics to make people feel an independent MP is going to get Israel to listen to them.

"Farage said he did not know whether he would be giving up his broadcasting career, or whether he would be going to the US to support Donald Trump in the presidential election in the autumn."
Good luck Clacton, something tells me your MP won't be there a lot to serve his constituency.

Maybe the new Labour government will make it easier to recall their MP?
I doubt he'll ever do much on the constituency surgery front.

I will be shocked if he is ever in the town for longer than it takes to take a picture of him holding a pint ever again

Farage doesn't give a shit about Clacton or the people who live there. He just used them as a steppingstone to power.
Lest we forget:

Can you imagine him sitting down with a single mum who's facing eviction and not yawning within 2 minutes?

Nah, shuffle it around every few months so that nobody has a chance to settle or make a meaningful impact is clearly the best way to do it! My daughter finished her GCSEs last week. Genuinely fummin that she has clocked ten education secretaries during her eleven years.

Good luck Clacton, something tells me your MP won't be there a lot to serve his constituency. It'll be interesting to see what Farage actually does. If he does fuck off, or does hardly any work at a constituency level I think it kills his UK brand and Reform/Ukip with it. How many times can you dupe people? He has to take this seriously. But I don't think he as attention span or drive to do it. Maybe going a little far out there but I wouldn't be surprised if Starmer asked Owusu-Nepaul and his team to dial back the campaigning there on this fact. Let Farage have his time in the sun but also bring the house down with it. It's kind of the way Kier thinks and he is very good at laying traps for his opponents to fall into. Not like it'll matter for Farage as he will find a pay day elsewhere but it'll clean up British politics for a while.

I dunno about anywhere else but Islington North (and I'm going to guess Chingford) quite a lot if not most are middle class white people. Either young momentum types who got a bit carried away cheering for Corbyn, or the older ones who still bear the scars of Militant and all that in the 80s. Either way the only policy they really care about is Gaza, not just the only foreign policy thing, just the only thing. The myopic obsession over it, is just fucking weird.

People won't give a shit, they will see their hero out there fighting for them and love him all the more for it.
People are like flies and he is a massive lump of shit. They get drawn to him constantly.

Chingford is a very different demographic to Islington. Islington is super yummy and whilst Chingford has areas like that, it's definitely got a greater proportion of salt-of-the-earth, down with ULEZ, etc. folk.

Apparently Farage is going to rid Reform UK of "bad apples" - you'd better get underway soon, Nige, as your entire orchard's fucked.

SNP have apparently conceded in Inverness to the Lib Dems. I know there are loads of takes about every part of the election but it really can’t be overstated how truly disastrous the SNP result has been. Sturgeon’s campervan must be a hell of a vehicle to have tanked the cause of independence for a generation

they sound "full higgy"
Sadly they will never listen to anything Labour says even if the party undoes a lot of the damage the tories did. They want to die on that hill like that Owen Jones
“the resistance starts here”. twats
My general view is that if Labour move the dial even 10% on social care or the NHS or schools or early years or unemployment then that is the lives of hundreds of thousands, if not millions, materially improved at a stroke. As much as I might wish the dial might go 50-100% I can’t deny that benefit. very much agree, not expecting massive change due to the tories just wasting tax payer money and putting it into their friends pockets but Labour know they have huge problem to deal with and we all expect them to move the dial slightly to something slightly better than the shit sandwich the tories have left
