Still more than a few in my office who either won't or don't care about voting. I understand the apathy, but there really seems to be a disconnect with people between the struggles of their daily lives and how the government who actively runs the country has a direct impact on that.
As flawed as it might be, democracy and our ability to vote is entirely unappreciated or deemed irrelevant.
One colleague is a single mother of two, working hard to make ends meet. Days out are considered a treat with the price of day to day bills, but won't vote as "They're all the same"
My own partner has a a relatively high level job and is very much the same, though this time after being force fed debates she'll vote for Labour as she feels Starmer is boring, but someone who means what he says.
More tellingly after having a few non interested voters, my partner included try a few sites which dictate your voting intention based on purely policy.. All came back heavily in favour of the Lib Dems.
With the wall to wall coverage Farage seemingly gets, it's comforting to know the country hasn't entirely lost it's way just yet.

One of my group chats is all political at the minute, obviously, and one person keeps piping up with "do you honestly think Labour will be any better?".
It gets roundly ignored, because how do you even debate with that. Like how low are your standards, or how disengaged from the news are you that you can possibly ask a question like that.
Part of me thinks it's mental gymnastics so they can self-justify voting Reform

I'd be asking if they think they could do any worse than the current shower of shite.

I try to avoid Pie what with being on the Russia Today payroll and the actor’s whole “we should actually give racist cunts a platform so that we can debate with them” ideals

Pie, wonderful diatribe, depressing, yet strangely satisfying knowing the fuckers will be gone

He's a fucking bellend.

Final YouGov poll is not showing any rallying of support for the Tories, I'm sure we'll have a thumping Labour win but I do fear that when things get this extreme polling itself starts to become less and less like reality. A bit like approaching light speed will probably make things go rather weird.

Reform UK +3. Its genuinely disgraceful how many column inches have been devoted to these idiots. Fair play to Ed Davey for all the fucking around he's been doing these last few weeks. How can arsing around on a paddle board be the only way the leader of our third largest party get any coverage?

Especially when all Farage has to do is hold a rally - cue breathless wall-to-wall coverage thereof (and £5 per entry from all the rubes who showed up, to boot).

I think we know the Pie issues, hence the disclaimer. A summing up is nevertheless useful though, a posted because, somehow, I was still shocked at some of it.

I honestly didn't! (The disclaimer did make me wonder, but a glance at his Wikipedia page left me none the wiser.)

Like a total waste of truffle, just for posh people to be able to spend too much on crisps. So fair play to whoever makes them for scalping rich people with no taste. Best pub crisps are Taytos.

Truffle* anything is fucking disgusting and contaminates everything it comes into contact with.
*Except actual truffles, which I am too poor to afford on more than perhaps a once per decade footing.

Fiscally there is nothing between them, and nothing real happens without treasury sign off. Most of the really big geopolitical stuff is going to impact us regardless of who's in charge (see GFC, Covid, Russia/Ukraine, the dominance of US financial markets).
People with more time than me have gone line by line through their manifesto and mostly it's a wash. Something something planning reform something something growth, but apart from that....
Today I saw that Starmer has apparently said we're not rejoining the EU in his lifetime.
The main difference I can see is that the Tories are chasing the Reform voter which is a bad place to be in terms of rhetoric, and there are some toxic people I'd be happy to see the back of (like JRM, Patel, Braverman). I hope that Labour's instincts and expectations of their voter base would lead them to make less divisive and hateful decisions and statements in response to whatever is down the track.
