Forbes is incredibly unpopular with the bit of the SNP that thinks the SNP is the most progressive party, ever. Plus the greens.
But she got 48% of the vote because both the SNP and the independence movement aren't the most progressive thing ever. They're just the most Scottish independence things ever.
Her being leader would just expose the massive category error that's going on.
I got 4 votes today.

I don't follow Scottish politics that closely either, but I did get the feel that the progressive members of the party had a bigger problem with her than just her religion. She was quite critical of the SNP's own gender reforms iirc.
TBH I'd be keen to see her run for leader, as I think its bad for parties' legitimacy to get a leader by way of coronation (hi Sunak!). Plus, you know: drama!
She also didn't believe in same sex marriage and only supported abortions in very limited situations. Being a fan of Jesus isn't really an issue, but she clearly followed out dated doctrine when it came to social issues and those would inevitably colour the policies she would be putting forward. I don't know the details, but her Wikipedia page also says she was quite fiscally conservative too. I really love people who support abortion but only in very specific made up situations which truthfully they don't believe will ever happen. Just say you're against abortion.

Managed to vote on my way back from work. Absolutely heaving polling station... except I'm pretty certain everyone was at the church hall for something. The people manning the polling station seemed happy to see someone and there weren't many names crossed off.

I wonder which Prime Minister pushed voter ID through the House? Even JRM admitted that it has fucked Tory voters more than they expected. Apparently Johnny ‘Veterans’ Mercer is on one because people couldn’t use their military IDs either. Another bit of performative fantasy imported from America.

That's amazing, scary thing is if there was an election tomorrow and he was the Tory candidate he would still get back in.

Reddit has decided he's done it on purpose for coverage, which seems just as likely as him being enough of a twat to think the law didn't apply to him.

Voted today, very busy at our local polling station (why station?). 3 different votes, therefore 3 different coloured slips, and 3 different ballot boxes. Needed someone to man the boxes so that not all 3 slips go into one box!
I can see why people don't bother. ✌️

Wtf has happened to Newsnight. Kirsty Wark looks like she might drop dead any second, the set is some sort of 90s parody sketch impression of a politics show and everyone is quite probably drunk

The Tories have slashed the BBC budget by 50% while they’ve been in office. At the same time as costs have been rising.

Councillor plus Andy B, fuck the Tories.
Also fuck voter ID.
Predicting an uncomfortably low turnout from what I saw and others here are reporting.

Voted Khan today. Quite happy with him generally. I like my politicians 6/10, almost unremarkable and not complete cunts. A high bar to attain for most of the wastebags in government. Also, it would be great to have a Labour government and Labour London mayor in tandem.

I voted for our former-Labour-now-independent left-wing incumbent mayor as he seems to be doing a decent job and in sensible a pragmatic way.
On the PCC front I knew eff all about any of the candidates so just went on rosette colour.
We only got one piece of literature through the door this election season. A little booklet about the mayoral race in which four of the six candidates got a two page spread each. There was a note on the inside of the cover saying that the Greens and Reform had chosen not to participate.
The polling has been neck and neck Driscoll and Labour so it’ll be interesting how that goes down. They’ll probably just ignore it but it’d be interesting to see how Labour react locally if they lose one of the few races where their vulnerability is to the left.

Kuenssberg is so dreadful at anything other than "WHAT IS YOUR IMMEDIATE REACTION TO THIS TEXT I JUST GOT FROM DOMINIC CUMMINGS"
Edit: I was watching a bit of the election overnight coverage. She's a terrible host. That said, the entire programme is a bit set up to fail

I'm pretty sure her blue rosette must have fallen off. She's fucking dreadful.
Late night edit : Rushmoor, my council, is now under Labour control, first time ever that's happened, it's supposed to be as safe as houses for the Tories.

Labour win Blackpool South (as expected) but with a 26% swing. Which is pretty large.
When I voted yesterday, I jokingly asked the tellers if turnout had reached 10% yet. A resounding no.

Guess it is still early days, but current trends suggest that Tories on track to lose 500 seats. Predictions had been saying bad case scenario (for them) was 400-500. Not sure how they can possibly spin this in any positive way. Sunak could very well be in trouble. They did were narrowly saved third place in Blackpool South, by 117 votes.
Managed until about 2.20 last night, although shouldn't have bothered, as not much was happening. Laura K seemed to be very fixated on a very minor change between Labour's vote share when compared to last year's local elections (which took place in completely different seats and really was telling us nothing from so few results).
