Ive never really understood why Abbott causes people to lose their minds so readily. Through any racist and/or misogynistic abuse she gets there is always an undercurrent of 'well, she deserves it'.
Its just really weird. She's an old lady who mainly does community work but she is the political equivalent of a lazy old hack comedian bringing up trans people.
Typical Tory After Dinner Speech:
'I HATE DIANE ABBOTT' *rapturous applause* 'Nailed it'
Its just odd and I have never been able to get my head around it other than the obvious. She is somehow the one person you're allowed to be racist about.

iirc she did quite a lot of good work early on. But then she said some stupid things and I think that just made those people who already hated her think they finally had free-reign to go after her.

Pretty much this. Being a fallible PoC as well as a woman? She basically deserves everything coming to her really.
She should really stop and look at 30p Lee as a shining beacon.

Diane Abbott row: Tory minister says they'd take more cash from donor Frank Hester
I know the mask hasn't really been on since forever, where this horrible lot is concerned, but they're not even pretending anymore.

Their fundamental problem is that they are relatively pragmatic in accepting anyone as long as they are a piece of shit so they always have one or two force fields against accusations of racism and sexism so nothing ever changes. Having Rishi in charge protects them from any form of introspection.
What they never examine is that they may be slightly diverse in ethnicity and gender, they aren't diverse in social standing which is why these prejudices always coalesce. It doesn't matter if you're a man, woman, black or white if you are a horrible, privately educated millionaire.

Agreed. The force fields you mention is also interesting as they cynically employ the argument that a PoC can't be racist for their own ends. Fuck I really do hate them as an entity.

It must be a tough challenge for the tories being basically openly racist with one another all the time and also knowing the vast majority of their key base loving that about them, but also having to publicly toe the line with it nonetheless. It's clear why they struggle to condemn racism in their party; they need to be seen to be doing it to retain an air of legitimacy but at the same time can't be seen to be too strong on it because they know that being racist is an enormous cornerstone of the party and if they did they'd lose even more people to Reform.
Was the same with Anderson, they couldn't condemn him too hard because both they and a ton of their voters agree with him.
May they continue to struggle with it forever 😌

Ha fuck. The bar is so low now it's in the Ninth Circle of Hell. Making your way in the world today Take everything they've got Taking a break from all my taxes Sure would help a lot Wouldn't you like to get away? All those nights when they've got no rights The check is in the mail And your little angel Sung your praises, all across the Mail And your third mistress didn't show Sometimes you wanna go Where everybody knows your name And they're always glad you came You wanna be where you can see (ah-ah) Our troubles are all the same (ah-ah) You wanna be where everybody knows your name

I'd just go: he's a racist, we don't support racism, and we will put the money to good use, not racist use, which is not influenced by donors own views.

In case you were confused, like me, about Sunak's reference during PMQs to a Labour MP saying a Tory MP should be lynched, this is a reference to John McDonnell. Reading up now on it, I believe it was a remark at a comedy evening, where he was referencing comments by other people during a public event he was speaking at about Esther McVey. The audio of this can be heard hear - www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-politics-42682854His own remarks about the comment are cut off, so don't know what he says afterwards, but it was supposedly used as an example of the anger that the group felt over the removal of welfare support. Don't think quoting someone else is really the same thing. It isn't a great look and his refusal to apologise isn't good either, but I don't think the two incidents are really comparable. Trying to also conflate Raynor calling Tories scum is completely pathetic.

Rich racists have feelings, refusing their money after they've said sorry for being rude is rude as well. Keep that money Tory party and don't insult the man, in fact maybe give him some more public contracts so he feels wanted as he's clearly been affected by this nonsense.

Was it only last week Rishi stood outside Downing Street “angry” to the nation at extremism, violence, language and mps safety etc. guess it doesn’t apply to Tory MPs.

I watched that interview while eating my breakfast. It was a real wtaf moment. On top of so many other 'they said what?' moments of late. It's truly horrific that thee are the people in charge of the country when their views seem so questionable. Although I guess the tories have got now such a venal, immoral pack of charlatans in their ranks it should be of no surprise. That every day can bring a new low, is highly worrying. Where is the actual nadir for this lot?

Saying they could shoot someone on Oxford Street and get away with it As long as they apologise afterwards, I'm sure that would be fine.

It’s true. If you murder someone but apologise afterwards, that means you’re not a murderer.

I watched that interview while eating my breakfast. It was a real wtaf moment. I heard that, but I also heard him on Radio 4 a little later and the answer had changed to "I'm not in charge of party finances, they will have processes..."
I think he may have had a phone call in-between the two interviews

So like when someone bumps into us, we apologise to them? Very similar, except with the addition of the person that bumped in to you, having you killed shortly afterwards anyway.
