It was an obvious joke about football being a fairly dull low scoring sport. Seems people are offended he doesn't care about the sport they like (the regularly posted Limmy clip about films can probably be applied here too). Can't say I know anything about him and I'm sure he is a prick, but for an off the cuff gag by a politician it wasn't a bad one.
Only problem with it was a cricket fan poking fun at boring sports ending in a draw was a bit rich.
Edit - glancing at the summary of his interviews, his claim that the Rwanda policy would for some reason have the same effect as the Albanian returns policy raises a bigger eyebrow.

I have no idea who he is, but thought his answers were fine. He doesn't watch TV and he likes cricket. At least he's being honest... Given all the lies he spouted across all the interviews he did this morning, he'd probably run out.

I actually think Burley comes off far worse in that interview. Pathetic forced attempt at a “gotcha”. He said he was into cricket. That’s a sport. He’s not obliged to like football. She’s a cunt.

Yeah it really is an indictment of our current cultural discourse. "Did you watch the drama about the injustice, that's been known about for years, that's suddenly got people interested?" "No." "What do you watch then?" "Sport." "Well the only sport that exists is the most popular one, so who do you support in that?"
And this is a country that will kick off (pun unintended) once it's suggested that 16 and 17 year olds should be able to vote.

Christ on a bike, why did I tune into PMQs for the first time in ages? Sunak so fucking awful today it's unbelievable.
Apparently Starmer writing a book on European human rights law is some sort of gotcha. Pathetic stuff.

‘Nah, this shit is making us look bad’ is quite a powerful indictment.

It boggles my mind that people look at these absolute imbeciles and think "yeah these are the people to lead the country".

It has got to a point where the reputational damage outweighs everything else. I suspect they promised Rwanda this would be a done deal with a big bad of money. Instead they have had to sit and wait while our courts argue whether our not it’s a shithole while the world watches us use them as fodder in a ridiculous culture war.

Arsenal really wanting their sleeve sponsorship to go away I'd imagine.

Are they sponsored by the Post Office?
(Sorry, not really up on my Foot-to-ball. I prefer cricket.)

Dear God, no. Nothing as heinous as the Post Office or Fujitsu. Just a Rwanda sponsorship.
Does make me consider a solution to the Tory problem though. Why not just threaten small boat travellers with postmaster jobs? Even if the courts won't let them be considered illegals for their boat journey, it won't be long before they can be banged up!

They are sponsored by a country?! Rwanda is pushing itself as a tourist destination for people to see the wildlife. They'll probably not have genocide tours or anything similar.

As a Spurs family, we boycott Rwanda. My in-laws have just moved back down south, they now live in Wimborne, where that MP watches football. It's Tory As Fuck.

It really is incredible the excuses they come out with now. "I couldn't vote with Labour", "I was waiting to see how many others would vote against, but now see we won't defeat it, so I'm standing with the government", etc.
Bunch of cowards, not even able to stand by their awful opinions. The few that actually did vote no because they wanted a tougher bill are fucking morons, but at least they stuck to their guns (I would say stuck to what they believe in, but that likely isn't true).

He genuinely makes my skin crawl. I know so many people who sound and act exactly like him it gives me flashbacks to being trapped in living rooms and pub lounges and having to listen to these fuckheads bollock on about never being able to see a white doctor. Pathetic, paper thin hard men. Literally their only redeeming feature is that they pronounce 'couldn't' as 'cunt'.
